Excellent grocery store. The only place in Santa Cruz where you’re allowed to smoke cigarettes inside the store. Best butcher in town. They have a deal on salmon on Wednesdays.

This store sells pull dated groceries & doesn’t take sour items off shelves. ..
management says it’s customer ‘s responsibility to check dates & save receipts to exchange sour undrinkable item for fresh. Waste of budget to buy rotten food… too blind after eye surgery to read pull dates or find missing receipts , so will avoid experimental perishable milk section in future …possibly not bother going there… plenty of better places to shop with reliable fresh items.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Santa Cruz California has the best deals on food in the county. If you want grocery prices in town as they were in the past, GO in SC is where that's at. Everything from produce to meats, chips, dips, cookies, ice cream, and candy. And if you're not hungry, they've got everything else you need from socks and blankets to automotive and home goods. No membership required. Plus, holiday themes and seasonal item displays. Friendly, interesting, unique and outgoing employees who care about each other. Good place to shop.

(My only complaint is that they do not sell Grocery Outlet hoodies, t-shirts, or other GO themed clothing. But this is true across all of their stores. Grocery Outlet is either uninterested or refuses to create a fashion line and it is upsetting.)

Two months later and still no apology nor a retraction of their slandering of me! Shame on the ownership and management of this particular store. They have no business being in business whatsoever!

Original review: Shop here only if you want to be falsely accused of shoplifting in a hostile manner! I used to shop here every day spent thousands of dollars until one day I needed a shopping card and walked towards the front door wirh one item which I intended on placing inside the store before exiting to retrieve a shopping cart. But an employee who should have known I was a regular customer accused me of shoplifting jn a hostile manner. I told him I'm going outside to get a shopping cart and putting this item down before exiting. He said "that's not how it looked like to me", don't come back!
Upon, contacting the store by email they took his side. Management are amateurs at handling such things the proper thing to say is do you want to pay for that item not it looks like you're stop lifting. But they didn't care, saying I passed the cash registers. However there's plenty of items to purchase past the cash registers and people often do beyond the cash registers to purchase those items at the front of the store so that point is moot as they have no sign that says that.
In 50 years of shopping I have never been accused of shoplifting and the matter in which it was done was extremely upsetting he personally and intentionally inflicted emotional distress on me.
These people do not deserve to be in business do not shop here. Grovery outlet bargain market stores are owned by different individuals so shop and another grocery outlet bargain market not the one on Morrissey unless you want to be falsely accused of crimes not committed even when it is explained to them.

In reply to your response to my review, kindly retract the implication that you publicly stated that you may have inferred that I may have in fact had intention of stealing based on falsehoods claiming that the employee waited for me to return with a cart. However the employee told me do not come back! So while he may have waited by the door he was not waiting to make sure I came back with a cart as you have claimed but rather that I did not come back! You have thus wittingly or unwittingly attempted to bismearch my character in defense of your wrongs committed against me.
I took my time out of my busy day to alert you to this for the greater good.
Your proper response should have been thank you for explaining this to us we regret and apologize for the misunderstanding you're welcome to come back and shop in our store anytime and if you would like you may ask a mamager to have that employee give you a personal apology. The proper thing for a clerk to say is are you going to pay for that, not it looked to me like you were shoplifting. So in good faith, I will allow you a do over to retract your maliscious response and replace it with the proper response that I have just penned for you. You're welcome.

Addendum: Has the cat got your tongue or did I get your goat by unimpeachingly disproving your maliscious falsehoods?

No public restrooms!
What is considered an emergency? I politely asked a worker, and as he was telling me I couldn't use it, he was looking at how I was dressed. I decided to ask someone else, and this other worker said "NO" with an intimidating tone. The first worker saw me again and told me I could go to Safeway. If it wasn't for my daughter who had a full cart, I would have left, I guess this independently owned grocery outlet wants our money but does not want to offer a basic necessity a human needs. I love grocery outlets, but this one in Santa Cruz lost a customer, and Safeway is gaining one.

We love our local Grocery Outlet! We always find bargains on favorites and love to see what unique or new items they get in. Manager Andrew gave great service and was so helpful! Ps their seasonal decor section is fantastic!

I had never been denied using a restroom at a grocery store before……….ever. As a customer I should have access to the restroom. After the worker ( I wouldn’t say gentleman) told me it’s not a public restroom, I told him I wasn’t the public, I am a customer, he said I am the public. Therefore, I told him I will shop elsewhere and he did not give a rat’s ass and mumble off with a comment. This is not taking care of the customers, who take care of the store. No customers, no store. Again, i have never in my life been denied use of a restroom at a grocery store. And I should not have to ask permission from the manager and explain that i have an emergency situation as was stated in previous feedbacks. I am very disappointed with this store and will definitely not be shopping there again. Shame on you for not taking care of your customers!👎🏻
