I LOVE Jamila Norman's TV show, Homegrown on Magnolia Network and just wanted to see her urban garden on 1.2 acres in the city of Atlanta for myself.

People were working hard harvesting food for Farm Fresh Friday
when you can shop the farm (it was Thursday so we didn't get to shop 😭) but she is more than a gardener, helps people start their own gardens with landscape design, planting and harvesting their first yield.

Check out the show and garden on Fridays.

Check out her neighbor's beautiful magnolia tree when there.

After enjoying the show featuring the proprietor, we made a point to swing by this small farm on our trip to Atlanta. We were greeted well by Chef Beee and Tawhiyda, who were vending prepared foods and produce, respectively. Jamila Norman swept through briefly, making a very conscious attempt to not engage. I chose to ignore her nonverbal signals and introduce my mother. Ms. Norman was short, visibly annoyed and less than charming. As we were not attempting to monopolize her time and simply expected the dignity of a cordial acknowledgement, I found her approach unduly rude. If you've watched the show and expect a modicum of the courtesy she appears to afford her clients, you will be disappointed.

If you just want some produce, you'll get much of what you can get at any of the finer grocers in the greater Atlanta area, save for some jarred goods that are not available widely.

Chef Beee makes an incredible cucumber limeade that is well spiced, soothing, and goes down like a lover's kiss. Her sorrel drink isn't as wonderful; but, those familiar with beet juice drinks will enjoy it. I've yet to try any of her other offerings, though the yam dinner smells good. She's professional and polite without being overly attentive.

I enjoyed speaking with Tawhiyda and found her the most sociable of the women.

Unless you live near this venue, there's no need to experience it. There's nothing special here worth driving 30 minutes out of your way to get, though that cucumber limeade might be very, very close.

Kinda disheartened with a visit this farm, the lady acted as if I was bothering her with my questions and failed to be pleasant, while the man was short yet attempted to answer. I could stayed in California for THIS! The nonblack farmers were welcoming and friendly.

Revised: Regardless to coming unannounced, paid or unpaid, appointment or NOT, you could have informed me of this information when I was there instead of being nasty towards me! Just goes to show WHO you truly are! Yet Thank you wholeheartly for reminding me my money spends where its welcomed!
