This is a small botanical garden with an amazingly diverse collection of plants. It is not the easiest place to find due to one-way roads and neighborhood development. The signage on the grounds is outdated and difficult to read. Although we visited during open hours and there was a meeting being conducted in the basement, the main level and restrooms were closed. The grounds are not set-up for wheelchair access, but are flat or sloping for handicapped accessibility

I really enjoyed my walk through the garden and seeing plants so meaningful to Hawaii. Easy stroll with option of going up a steep, grassy hill to see a forested area (I chose not to go up there). Bring cash for a donation or use your smartphone to make an online donation.

It was an amazing experience. I felt like I was at home and so connected with the Aina, everyone as well as the Native plants. I will be volunteering on a regular basis! Come and join us and get plugged in. Saturday at 9am... 💯🥰.

Take a lil walk in the garden when you go to the Sunday Pure Kona Green farmer's market.
The garden is free, but there is a place to offer a donation.

Lovely vibe. Worth the visit! Expansive garden space. Lots of native (some introduced) plants spread out by ecosystem/habitat. Currently only open to the public on Sundays 9am-2pm. And Saturday morning work party, for those interested to get more involved.

Free entry with optional donation. Informational map with a web link for more information about the family and history of the garden available upon entry. Garden is adjacent to the Sunday Farmer’s Market in Captain Cook, a must see when visiting. Lots of great food, crafts, and art.

Coming from Kailua-Kona, Google maps directs you to the property’s private drive off of Hawaii Belt Road. Instead of parking on the side of the highway, continue south and take the next left turn at the Arthur L. Greenwell Park (Manago Hotel is on the right/west side of the road) and there is a grass field for parking up the street and on the left. And street parking is also available.

A beautiful and informative space that allows you to learn about and respect the abundance of various native plants in one place. The garden always appears to be going through growth and change which will make each visit unique to the last!

This is a lovely 7+ acre Hawaiian EthnoBotanical garden comprised of many endangered trees and plants and flowering plants. It is a peaceful walk on paths weaving through well maintained green space with enough information on each horticulture living plant to interest you in finding out more about them, including many which are endangered species. I highly recommend taking the guided tour at 10:30 am, which I missed this time. I did enjoy my own casual tour of this lovely space in mauka Captain Cook, Kona, Hawaii.

beautiful plants. it was lovely visit coming here with my fiance. you feel really connected to earth and mother nature coming here. lots of mosquitos when humid so bring a natural spray to keep them off! I love the little information cards under the trees. so cool!

Beautiful garden. They give tours Sunday’s at 10:30. Jim gave a great tour of the garden. Very hands on, you get to see the unique fauna of Hawaii and try first hand the different usages they have like sunscreen and fibers to rig sails
