This place is like a community leisure backyard. To be fair, it’s more like a park to sit and relax than a garden. It is not worthy of $10 per person….. Plain layout, random plants… no sculptures… you can basically step in at the entrance area, look around and work out… You didn’t miss anything… We paid $20 to walk around, didn’t feel intrigued…not an equal value exchange…

Great place to visit to get familiar with native and introduced plants! I learned so much from the brochure as well as the accompanying app, which had detailed ethnobotanical info. I went here upon arriving in Maui and am so glad I did. It really enriched my experiences on the island, being able to recognize and appreciate more deeply the plants I see.

Calm and beautiful botanical garden of native and naturalized plants. Lots of places to sit and relax. Everything is well labeled.

The focus on native plants means that you aren’t going to see a bunch of non-native tropicals.

We went before heading to the airport and it was a great way to get a walk in and better time our arrival to the airport.

Love love love this tranquil botanical garden. Serves many purposes for me. I volunteer with the Weed and Pot Club on Wednesdays, and love my MNBG hui 🫶🏾
I learn a lot from the akamai staff...Emmely, Namea, Aaron, Alexa & Tamara, and team members Kekoa & Michael... about the NATIVE HAWAIIAN PLANTS! They have wonderful events/workshops with cultural intentions so we can pay it forward.

I was surprised it was open because there's virtually nothing here. No flowers, mostly duplicate plants with many of them about to die. We had the entire place to ourselves except for the 3 people working in the office. All of the building were empty that use to house animals. They asked for $20 to get in and I'm still wondering what we paid for.

A nice little garden walk. Looks like they are expanding. It says 5 acres but I do t think you can walk all 5 acres.

Lots of bread fruit trees and a audio guide is provided. Not much more else here but I paid the entry fee because it is for a good cause.

Excellent Arber day community event. Everyone received a tree or plant to take home. So many informative booths about conservation, native species, national parks, proper planting, pruning etc. Spent half a day and bought several amazing plants available at the display booths.

Place has potential and has a lot of open space that can be planted. Walkways need repair and would liked to have seen more tropical plants with flowers for a much needed pop of colour.

It wasn't really organized well as to which way to go or any sort of system as to what was where. A lot of the plants were all very similar in size and appearance.

The huge Chinese Banyan tree is the main attraction for me, but no where near the size of the one in Lahaina.

The cool part was the audio recorders they give out. Several but definitely not all the plants had 2 sets of 3 digit numbers on the bottom right hand corner of a sign or placard. You punch in the code and it tells you information about the plant.

With some financial support and planning this could develop into something good in the future.
I was pretty underwhelmed and I guess they need to charge admission just to upkeep what they currently have.
