First stop in our trip! Before we check in we always pop by here and pick up fresh veggies and fruit for our stay. I did buy a $6 avocado against-my better judgement and it never ripened our whole 7 day trip. Bought all the cabbage, cilantro, carrot’s and onion to make a big batch of cole slaw that we ate off all week. Made Chinese Chicken Salad a few days, use in Poke Bowls and such a powerhouse of nutrients for your trip! Super easy! Bummed about my avocado!

A charming little market to explore! The Kona Farmer’s Market brings together friendly local artisans and farmers offering a variety of unique goods and fresh produce. If you’re visiting on a Thursday, expect a more laid-back vibe—while it’s officially open at 7 a.m., some vendors ease into their day around 9 a.m. That said, the early bird farmer is there bright and early, ready with fresh, flavorful produce to start your morning right!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Kona Farmers Market is an absolute gem! Not only do you get access to fresh, local produce and handmade crafts, but you also have the chance to directly support the hardworking farmers and artisans in the community. It’s a wonderful way to boost the local economy while enjoying the freshest tropical fruits, vegetables, and unique products that you can’t find anywhere else. Every visit feels personal, and the vendors are always friendly and eager to share their stories. The only drawback is that some art pieces seem like they might be sourced from places like China (AliExpress or Temu), but I still felt good supporting these small local businesses. Let’s keep backing them so they can continue to thrive! Highly recommended!

When we visited, there were very few vendors selling fruit. The fruit is excellent. The rest of the vendors sold mostly clothing and tourist trinkets. This location is near where cruise ships anchor, so I think the vendors know they can charge a little more.

If you have time to explore the rest of the Big Island, you’ll likely find better prices. The farmer’s market in downtown Hilo is really good.

I absolutely love the Kona Farmers market! I can always find my favorite fresh produce there and it’s always my first stop when I go to my favorite market! Pineapple was hard to find this year but I got a couple at the market so I could make a pineapple, banana, papaya fruit salad sprinkled with coconut. It’s not nearly the size it once used to be, 2020 definitely did a number on the vendors, and now the city is charging $15 to park nearby which is unfortunate but we had a driver so it wasn’t a problem. I can count on them, always.

It feels so welcoming to talk to the local people here.

I would mostly make a request that everyone go and visit these people - they are just amazing!!

Specially the local produce they bring to sell, they are the best!!

PS: people used to visit the farmer's market earlier but now because of the parking restrictions a lot of them don't come in. If it's possible request to kindly take off the parking fees from these market places!
Thanks
