What an incredible transformation, I’m so grateful to Kevin Kovach and EcoScapes Maui!!!!!

I have worked with Kevin Kovach and his entire crew at EcoScapes Maui for a little more than a year. Mr. Kovach designed my small farm, Hale Sunshine Rae, which benefits the Maui Food Bank.

Kevin spent weeks clearing and preparing the these former pineapple fields: digging up & removing rubble, trenching for irrigation and amending the soil for its future bounty. As the farm is in the style of a food forest, Kevin and his team then installed more than 200 trees including bananas, citrus, mango, papaya, sapotes, jackfruit, guava and many others. They installed six vegetable boxes, an herb spiral and beautiful landscaping around the house, as well as a huge six row garden that currently has more than 150 pineapples, three kinds of taro, ginger, turmeric, herbs and was recently overflowing with corn and watermelon.

Kevin and his amazing crew also custom designed the concrete step-way on two sides of the house, a sweet river rock feature that flows in and out of the house, a gorgeous custom pergola for the lanai, a fun rain garden that takes water from the gutter of the house, as well as multiple major drainage and irrigation solutions.

Kevin even designed a nursery station for starters, as well as for cleaning and preparing deliveries to the food bank. The crew still comes for maintenance once per week and greatly help to keep this place running smoothly! Couldn’t do it without them!!

Mr Kovach and his team are very professional, courteous, extraordinarily hard working, with each member dedicated to getting the job done to the best of their abilities. Kevin is a tactician and seriously detailed in his work and design but also very flexible, always providing several solutions to any problem. He has encyclopedic knowledge that he readily shares, he is kind, he loves his work & he loves Maui. Five Million Stars. ✨

Kevin and his team at EcoScapes Maui transformed a 2 acre property I purchased in 2013 into a beautiful, park-like Farm. Kevin was great about helping me learn more about permaculture, and how to position the plantings so that we use very little if any irrigation, artificial pesticides or fertilizers. I can walk all over my farm and eat fruit right off the trees, and it has become a place that my friends and family flock to. Kevin took time in the beginning to find out about my food preferences, cooking style, etc. Seven years in, I have an incredible variety and quantity of delicious food that are many of my favorites, growing year round, in a beautiful setting. Kevin is so well informed about which plants do well at various elevations, and has introduced me to a number of new fruit varieties. I have been very pleased with his landscaping staff, as well. They are such a pleasure to have around. I could never have done this without them!

We hired Kevin when we bought a place over five years ago, and he was absolutely instrumental in helping us mold our land into the edible landscape it is now. He is incredibly knowledgable about what to plant in the specific microclimates of our island, amazing at finding all the various plants we were looking for, and handles everything from start (sourcing) to finish (irrigation, landscaping).

A half-decade later, our backyard has a beautiful herb spiral which feeds our salads, dozens of fruit trees (everything from Australian finger lime to mango and avocado), and lots of edibles living in the tree circles. It's so fun to walk around and collect greens for dinner, or snack on mulberries and surinam cherries.

I can't recommend Kevin more highly, he's a great guy and his team is always professional.
