The Lodge is absolutely wonderful. We really enjoyed our time there and the staff were lovely. It's a very small place, so it's quiet and feels remote, but its proximity to the park is fantastic. Only a few minutes and you're at the entrance! We were lucky enough to witness an eruption at Kilauea and the whole experience felt incredibly special. Highly recommend this charming place!

This is a very special property, just 10 minutes from the entrance to Volcano National Park. The lodges are nestled amongst the tree ferns, in a beautiful setting. Each individual lodge is quiet, and beautifully furnished. The beds are comfortable, and the breakfast tasty. The french toast is particularly good. It's great have have breakfast dropped off in your room, so you can eat whenever you want.

This was our 6th stay at Volcano Village Lodge. It is a magical place nestled amongst huge ferns. Love the quiet, romantic feeling when we are inside and the world is slowed down. This trip was even made more special by the innkeeper, Carlos. He made us feel that his goal in life was to assure the best possible experience for his guests. And that he did. He made my husband's special birthday a very memorable time. Above and beyond are apt words for our experience. Also feel like I made a new friend. How great is that! Highly recommended.

We spent three nights at this wonderful property. We loved the tranquility and remoteness of the location. The staff is wonderful and very attentive. Communicating was great through texting and they always helped with all of our questions. Keep in mind this location is very remote and there aren't too many restaurants or stores near by. I would definitely stay here again. It was one of the best vacations we had.

This place is such a fun stay. The way the rooms are set up is really nice and the jungle scenery is really cool and relaxing. The small in room fire place and electric blanket made sleeping very cozy. A great change of pace to the standard hotel stay. The breakfast burritos we got were also really good.

Good stay that could have been great if more attention were given to the small details. Staff were very welcoming and good with communication prior to and during our stay. Lodge is easy to find and just a short 10-minute drive to the park. Despite it being so accessible, the location felt very remote and secluded (which is a good thing!). Even though it got cool at night, the fireplace and blankets kept us warm. The dehumidifier also kept the room dry and doubled for white noise during the night. Despite the property being full, we hardly ran into anyone during our 2-night stay, which made it feel even more like our own personal, tropical getaway.

Other: Wifi was slow (as expected) and not super reliable either, but there is a great selection of DVDs on-site if you're looking to spend a quiet night in.

Now, for the small stuff: For the nightly rates being charged, some basic amenities would certainly go a long way into making this feel like more of a 5-star stay.

Trash cans - extremely tiny and filled up quickly each day. Why can't a larger size be stored under the sink?

Breakfast - good to have variety but taking into account guest preference would also be a nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our banana pancakes the first day, but our picky eaters didn't touch the sausage and egg burritos on the next day. Also, while coffee/tea/hot chocolate is offered, why no milk or juice? Even a flavored creamer would help.

"Kitchen" amenities - no hand towels or paper towels to help with small spills or to use when warming up food in the microwave; no hot pads to pull out items from the toaster oven. Only the linen table napkins were available.

Bathroom products (toilet paper, shampoo, body wash) were very basic and an obvious contrast from the otherwise premium pricing.

Absolutely lovely location, accommodations and staff. They were able to accommodate an early check in. When we walked into the office you could smell the delicious breakfast they made for the next morning. The room was super adorable and very comfortable. Drea and Carlos were so communicative. We will definitely stay here again!

Outstanding tiny lodge very close to the volcano and park entrance. We stayed in Haleakala and it was very comfortable and cozy and it was so relaxing to be surrounded by the rainforest. Breakfast was delicious as was the picnic lunch. Highly recommend and will stay again next time we visit the volcano.
