Overall, it is a great location on the beach and the location wins this place. We got there for the happy hour cocktails. They weren't the tastiest cocktails but for $13 or so, I can not complain. The full price cocktails on the menu looked really good though. I enjoyed the atmosphere and they had live music even at 4pm in the afternoon - lots of the other places were just setting up. I would look forward to coming back! The bar tenders were also proactive in letting us know that they had extra parking.

Hula Grill Kaanapali offers a fantastic beachfront experience with live music and a relaxed atmosphere. The location is unbeatable, right on the sand, perfect for watching the sunset. The food is solid, with standout dishes like the fish tacos and Hula Pie for dessert. While prices are higher, the ambiance and views make it worthwhile. The service is friendly, but reservations are recommended, especially for sunset seating.

Came for dinner during the week - great spot in the outdoor mall area but you really need to book the day(s) before if you want the sunset and full experience with live music. Food was great, service was on point and staff was very amicable. Steak is fantastic as is the fish tacos. Adult drink selection is also pretty good.

5 min walk from all the resorts and right on the beach. Awesome vibe at sunset with live music, hula dancers and cute drinks. We went here twice on our trip to try different things on the menu. Recommend the chef's tasting menu with the fresh catch of the day.

The ambiance and location are the best part! The food is hit or miss. Some really tasty items, and some just okay. The prices are high especially for small portions and mixed quality. The happy hour is meager, there are only 3 drinks and 3 appetizers, that aren’t even a good value. I got the happy hour shrimp cocktail, which was actually 3 prawns for $15!! They were really good. Their $17 pina coladas are terrible. They taste bitter and there is no hint of coconut. Second time I’ve tried them on a trip, so it isn’t a fluke unfortunately. Leilani’s across the way makes good ones.

My husband enjoyed the Kula pork flatbread, and the kid’s burger was fine. The Caesar salad was so overdressed, and had so much garlic it was spicy. It tasted good, but I also had that flavor in my mouth the rest of the night, haha. The fish tacos lack flavor. Again, Leilani’s across the way does a much better taco.

Lastly, the sand in the barefoot bar area is gross!! It’s so dirty and my kid found three pieces of glass, a coin, amongst other things. Don’t take off your shoes or your feet will turn black. It’s not really sand, but gravely dark matter that gets stuck in your shoes.

The location, ambiance, and a few menu highlights, make it a restaurant to visit if others have long waits.

A bit too crowded for our liking, but overall it was fun. The food was very good and worth the visit. The live music was a great touch. The views were fantastic. A lot of day trip excursion boats come and go from this beach making for some neat entertainment. Our server was absolutely amazing and took very good care of us.

Best calamari ever!! Very tender, veggie dip so good!!! We tried several dishes and all were fabulous! Right on the beach, very relaxing atmosphere.

Nice seating on the beach. Park in the garage and they validate for 2 hrs. Maui Brewing company Bare Foot Beer tasted nice. Kupala Pork Sandwich was tasty and filling. The ceviche with coconut milk was very tasty. Pork and pineapple flat bread had a nice crust and went well with the beer.
