Everyone and everything was top notch! The resort is located in a beautiful setting, The view of the ocean and landscape is beautiful. We Loved the pool for relaxing and beach area for snorkeling. Browns beach house and the taco truck were our favorite places to eat on property. We stayed on the gold floor and that was the best experience I’ve ever had at a hotel, We felt so pampered. The lounge was wonderful and all the staff went above and beyond to help with all of our needs. We had a lovely stay, can’t wait to return.

Had a lovely week w our adult children. The rooms were spacious comfortable and included a variety of amenities including kettle, coffee and cooler drawer. Bathrooms were spacious. The pool was gorgeous, poolside bar and restaurant lovely. Browns Beach House restaurant was delicious (so good we went twice). Other restaurants had nice variety of dishes. Interesting petroglyph park just to the north. Concierges had good recommendations for off resort activities and hikes. Only knock was a little confusion over charges because of the hotel’s midweek conversion to new technology.

What a beautiful property! As we walked down into the restaurant the open views are to die for. |We had reservations at the Browns Beach House as we were celebrating a very special occasion with my girlfriends. They sat us at the edge of the water which couldn’t have been more perfect. |Our server Janice was very attentive, sweet and made our dining experience one to remember. The chef also came out with a delicious appetizer! Even the manager came out to check on us. This place is magical! Browns Beach House is a must when on the Big Island! You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve stayed at several fairmonts and have loved all of them, so I had high expectations of this hotel. ||The fairmont orchid is a perfectly nice hotel. They have a nice beach, with adorable sea turtles that I swear was eavesdropping on my conversations. There are tiny cute birds running all over the property. ||The hotel was nice, although for the brand and the price point maybe I was expecting something more luxurious and architecturally aligned with being in Hawaii. ||Unfortunately, our experience with housekeeping was far from optimal. Although we tipped generously for the first 5 days, They never changed out our water glasses or wiped down the countertops, we ran out of body wash and they didn’t replace it nor any of the tea until I had called several times. ||In fairness, right now they don’t have a GM. They blamed the staff for being undertrained- but I did some sleuthing and apparently they bring out lots of hospitality interns to do rotations, then don’t actually let them do rotations, just make them worn on housekeeping and wash dishes. ||Fairmont, it’s not a good look to exploit intern labor. You make enough money to pay your staff fairly. ||Other than that, my massage with Brandy was phenomenal. Cheryl is an amazing concierge. ||Some more feedback |- update and invest in spa facilities. 2/3rds of the massage cost goes to the fairmont, you could at least provide hairbrushes and juice and in a nice seating area|- More Hawaiian inspired fare for the breakfast |- Denote gluten free options more clearly on menu|- We were there for a conference - they did not have enough staff or food for the socially hours and did not replenish the food nor add more workers, meaning many people didn’t get their drinks or food

Everything about our week long stay was excellent. Fantastic location. Helpful and caring staff. Super convenient parking. Easy access to beach. Tons of amenities including water access & towels everywhere including at the beach. Food was excellent. My only complaint is that the jacuzzi/hidden whirlpool is center of the sun hot & they could use more shade umbrellas by the pool. But other than that it was as perfect as it could be

We loved the hotel grounds, amenities, beach, location and overall experience. From the welcome cupcakes to daily lunches at the pool bar, to the Peloton bike in the fitness center. Our family loved our time there. Even the hot rock Wagyu at Binchotan impressed our teenager. Would love to stay and unwind again.

We chose the Fairmont orchid for our 6 night honeymoon in September and look back with some amazing memories. While the hotel has its pros and cons, our honeymoon was relaxing and peaceful and the hotel had a lot to offer! The property is large, and inviting!

Pros:
- The water refill stations were so useful, clean and the water had a great taste.
- The poolside staff was extremely kind.
- The daily sunset traditions were unique and peaceful, making us feel as though time slowed down.
- The rooms have a nespresso coffee maker (a great plus!!)
- The beach on site with its own snorkeling cove was awesome! We saw an eel, sea turtles and so many fish! You could also order drinks and food to the sand as if you were at the pool.
- There is a market and some shopping just a few minutes away, with amazing poke and easy access to snacks/ groceries if needed.
- Our room had two showers- making the getting ready process after the beach days much quicker.
- There was champagne in our room when we arrived to honor our honeymoon celebrations.
- Close proximity to a lot of off site beaches.
- We were given a late check out of 8PM on our last day due to our late night flight. Something I have never heard of but was such an amazing upgrade before our long flight home.

Cons:
- The pool area is really small for the size of the hotel and there is only one hot-tub.
- The rooms are outdated. The TVs also have no way to stream streaming services.
- Grab and go breakfast was hard to find and limited.
- The on site luau was very expensive (while unique- it did not seem worth the cost)
- The cost of the spa amenities were not worth the size of the spa. The outdoor massages were in view of guests and right next to the pool. This caused us to opt out due to the price.
- The restaurants on site were very average some below average but expensive. Aside from the markets there aren’t many other food options around!
- While it is ranked as 5 star it feels more like 3 or 4 star.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the fairmont due to the pros above and are thankful we have such beautiful memories to look back on!

We got married at the Fairmont Orchid in February 2025. Absolutely amazing event with excellent service by our coordinator on-site, Yvette. She made our day and week extra special 💗. The grounds are immaculate! Great beach area with lounge chairs and perfect spot for a little lagoon snorkeling. Brown's Beachouse Restaurant is amazing! Great food and perfect ambiance. I would definitely stay here again!
