Wow, what a surprise when I walked into this restaurant at 269 Ocean Ave in Jersey City. In it's quite location built from her food truck, Lady G's restaurant makes you feel very much at home. It's not a big place, but it was packed with people eating some good home cook food while music played in the background. The atmosphere was lively, showing everyone was enjoying themselves. They do have a very nice bar with a large selection of drinks, but I had wine.

The menu isn't overcrowded with selections, which made it easy to choose from. I had fried chicken and cheese, and chicken and sausages empanadas. When I opened it, the juice fell into the plate, which made it even better. Plus, it was packed with meat and flavor. In addition, there is buffalo chicken, lump crab and shrimp, jerk chicken, and oxtails, to name a few. RJ, my review partner, said: Wow, both were excellent. Jerk Chicken with black bean, you could taste every element in these empanadas, it's like a whole dinner. Very moist, not dried out perfectly balanced seasoning loved it. Steak & cheese was again delicious, perfectly seasoned. The crust of the empanadas is so light and crispy, not that usual soft and thick casing.

I'm giving Lady G Empanada Restaurant 10 out of 10. If you want some good empanadas, then stop by and be prepared. Oh, wait until you see the Crabs. Oh, I forgot to mention there's an outdoor patio in the back.

They are called the home of soulful empanadas and serve lunch and dinner and have theme nights.

Horrible service. We had to seat ourselves and were not offered drinks upon walking in. I won’t be coming here again, I arrived at the restaurant at 4:30pm and my food arrived at 7:05pm. Mind you I had a table of three and we all got wings, mac & cheese with yams. They don’t value all customers the same only customers that they know. I’ve eaten the empanadas from them before and they were great maybe they should have stayed with that. My mac & cheese was lukewarm as well as my yams. The owner herself grabbed a fry from my plate when I had initially complained and acted very disrespectful towards my party. Once two hours passed my table FINALLY received drinks and we were given little plastic cups that should be given to a 3 year old! The waiter was all over the place and he could definitely use a customer service class. I will definitely never be eating here again nor will they be getting any more money from me. I’m disappointed because I do love supporting black owned businesses but this is a business that I can never support again!

Food is good here but the service sucks. I ordered from Uber Eats for pick up at 12:45pm estimated pick up time 1:15. Time changed when I arrived to 1:41 pick up. The cashier told me it wasn’t ready yet and gave me a 20 min window. Food was still not ready at 2:15, left my name & number to call me when it’s ready. Never received a call back 4 hrs later. For them to tell me that Uber didn’t charge me the right price & cancelled my order. If you don’t want this to happen to you, DO NOT ORDER THRU UBER EATS. Never again

Food is hands down 5 Star..!! One of the best Empanadas I have had, and definitely want to try again. Perfect texture and taste.

Unfortunately, there was a mix-up with their Menu options. They had displayed "Highline infused Shrimp and Crab Empanada," i.e., edible infused, and most of our group were ordering that option without any idea what it was. And the lady taking our orders was surprised we were ordering it - they weren't aware that it was on their Menu. Obviously, they had used an old Menu, probably from a different event where they showcased Highline Products. This isn't a small mistake to make, especially when your Food Truck is in a Family environment. We canceled our Highline infused orders and ordered regular ones, but one of our group members received an infused one by mistake and zoned out for a few minutes. Luckily, nothing major happened, but it could've been much worse. Hope they are more careful in the future with their Menu

The guy is really chatty and makes you wanna buy the empanadas. He claims it's a decent size and the quality is the top of the line.
The EMPANADAS are horrible and the guy charged me $10.66 for a jerk chicken and it was only for 1 empanada. The meat had very little flavor and was dry and it was definitely small not a decent size as the man claimed. I don't recommend this place because the quality is horrible and overpriced.

The best empanadas I’ve tasted in a while. I got the sweet potato, shrimp and crab, ground turkey and steak and cheese. Everything was very flavorful nothing was overly salty or sweet. I was the last customer of the night. She was generous enough to serve me when she technically didn’t have to. I am definitely coming back soon!

We had them from the Monmouth county fair! My family must've bought around $300 worth of empanadas over that time, they're that great! Our favorite were the oxtail but the seafood ones were a close second. To be able to support a black owned business as well as a business with such amazing people is truly empowering and endearing. I will definitely be catering from them soon 💛🖤

I was able to try Lady Gs food at the All about us festival on Juneteenth. It was SO good, so much flavor, hot and crispy. I live an hour away from jersey but I’m gonna start visiting my family in jersey more so I can eat more of her food lol!
