Very nice and peaceful experience, very nice flowers all over, statue's, and there are plenty of places to sit with the benches placed at different locations. Got a chance to see a rat snake which was pretty cool, it was just moving about it's business 😁😁 so I got some good pics, and being non poisonous you can get good close ups. Definitely a serene place. Very clean and well kept. They do have restrooms which are also very clean and well kept. They also have a gift shop with different nic nacks and reasonable prices. I definitely recommend this place as an afternoon adventure with nature

The NJBG and Skylands Manor are a bit of magic. The curvy mountain road is gorgfeþ vThe exhibitions are creative, educational, and just lots of fun. The organizers of the events are amazing. Many volunteers work tirelessly to make it happen. The photos are from this past Christmas from the Manor.
Thank you

Nice hiking trails. You can climb mountains, explore the forest see mountain top lakes, water falls, woodland streams, ponds etc. Also has special perennial gardens that are very beautiful. Their lilac bushes and trees are lovely too. Open 7 days a week.

I give it a 6/10, it is clean, well maintained and spacious. But I wouldn't say it is a botanical garden. It is more of a hiking trail with pockets of gardens. It is free to go in. You walk down this main dusty road and to your left is the first garden with crab apple trees and some flowers. Then you come out and continue down the main road and there is the next pocket behind a chain linked fence to keep the deer's out. Come out from there and your third garden.
There are cherry blossoms planted here so in spring I'll come back.

Just keep your expectations low this isn't the botanical garden like the one in The Bronx and Brooklyn. This is more for hiking and biking.

No picnicking is allowed. Dogs on leash are allowed.

The New Jersey Botanical Gardens is a massive piece of land. There are a lot of different paths and areas you can explore. I personally hiked around the Crabapple Vista. It's absolutely stunning. I also drove by the large lake, which had some nice picnic areas. Be sure to be weary of wildlife. I also recommend sun protection and bringing water/drinks and food if you plan to spend the entire day exploring the grounds. It is free to enter the gardens. There are multiple places to park.
