Having the word "Community" in this non-profits name is a bit of a stretch... Living in the Keeling neighborhood I have neighbors that have lived a block away from our "community" garden since it's establishment and had no idea it even existed.. They have zero connection to our community despite having leadership actually living in the very community of Keeling. There have been ZERO events or outreach efforts for workshops that I or my longer-term neighbors can remember. We are a low income, very diverse neighborhood that could greatly benefit from a local gathering place to connect with nature. Unfortunately, the "community"gardens of Tucson have no little impact in the communities they reside in. In fact, a majority of the plot holders come from other ends of Tucson who can afford the plot fees and the commute costs. This is more of a for-profit company exchanging land parcels and water usage for a fee, period. Also, nothing screams "community" than a new 6' chain link fence separating the community members from the paid members.

The Community Garden has been a place my wife and I have been spending many of our Saturday mornings at for over a year now. In addition to getting to taste the freshest of fruits and veggies (fresh-picked strawberries hit very different) we've also been privileged to directly interact and exchange with our community. We love to meet people at the garden, share harvests and gardening insights, and garner a sense of connection outside of the online space. Thank you for all that you do to make our community gardens possible!

I started gardening with CGT in January 2022. It's been a great experience--was able to harvest early spring crops like lettuce, peas, radishes and carrots. Had a great summer season with abundant tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, corn, squash, herbs, and flowers. I appreciate the caring community, meeting other gardeners, and the educational experiences CGT offers the gardening community. My garden is also affiliated with a school program and I love that future generations of gardeners are being educated on how to grow their food, be self-sufficient, and learn cooperative principles. I also LOVE that the gardens are organic!

"CGT" is an incredible community resource and deep-rooted institution in Tucson. Not many cities this size -or larger- can boast such a large network of community garden locations, let alone under one organization. As a nonprofit CGT boasts an incredibly talented and knowledgable community of gardeners and volunteers with unique practical experience in growing food and fellowship in the desert. Highly recommend checking them out whether you're looking for information, volunteer opportunities, or just a place to develop a green thumb and grow your own produce.

Been gardening with CGT for two years this spring and it’s been a wonderful opportunity. I’ve had the chance to both connect with community and learn about growing food- there are over four different languages spoken where I garden in Keeling Neighborhood. The CGT staff has been extremely accessible and supportive throughout my time as a member. Would definitely recommend gardening with CGT.

Don't you love it when you can pick some fresh veggies THAT YOU GREW, take them home and feed your family? That's what I love about Community Gardens of Tucson and why I've gardened with them for over 10 years! Lots of support for new gardeners and smart watering practices make this one of my favorite outfits in town.
ps I've had garden failures too, but that's part of the fun!
