Unfortunately this place should change its name. Friendly it is not. I hate to say this coming from a member owner. But I've been a customer of the store ever since it opened. Over the past couple of years and especially since the store expanded and got bigger It's lost a lot of it's charm. First of all it's insanely expensive. A lot of the stuff that you find at the co-op you can buy at Martin's for much cheaper. Now with that being said they do have some specialty items that you can only find there. But it just really disappoints me of how unfriendly the place is anymore. I'll say hello to an employee and they won't utter a single word. I even walk past who I am pretty sure is one of the owners of the establishment and said hello or excuse me or something along those lines and he didn't even reply back to me. To be honest he kind of walked past me like you didn't even realize I was there. Am I going to stop shopping here completely? No because they do have a few items that I enjoy. But with that being said they could definitely work on putting back the friendly in friendly city co-op.

Good selection of local and organic produce, meats, dairies, etc. they also had a fair selection of fresh made products (pasta salads, olive or broccoli salads, etc). Staff was friendly and helpful. Stock on items seemed up to date as well. There were discounted produce and products as well which I found interesting. Would love to see a bigger self fill & weigh product area.

I’ve been a member for around 10 years. Took a class today to learn about co ops which included a tour of the store. I was amazed by all that I learned!!!! McKenzie was exemplary! Her knowledge and speaking skills are top notch. This is a gem!!!

I love the coop. It is pricey but I love their selection of products. The hot bar & their pre-prepped food is great!! I just attended one of their classes and that was so fun. The staff are always so nice & friendly.

Wickedly great hot bar! Chocolate and drink Selection on par ⭐️ I think this is literally the best food in Harrisonburg.

🎉 Came here for the self serve lunch. Lots of fresh, quality ingredients at $8.49 a pound. Worth every penny and the entrees rotate each day. Coffee bar on-site, too.

🌞 There's a shaded, outdoor seating area to enjoy your lunch.

💡Come here before noon if you want first dibs on the self serve lunch options. Otherwise, you might see scraps.

⚠️ There's free wifi, but it was spotty at best if you're sitting outside.

Spot on for healthy, fresh and or organic options. I needed apple cider vinegar and fresh roasted Virginia peanuts, they had both. Great parking lot, large enough for any size rig or RV. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.

Their cold case food is 10/10 amazing and affordable. They also have a hot bar that's always $9.99/lb but I've never had it but I'm sure it's also just as delicious as everything else I've tasted.
You can also get plants and flowers too and of course just like everything else, is amazing. If you're looking for a much better feeling option in your food choices for takeout, this is the place. For that, and so much more.
