I am so glad we discovered Sipsey Creek Farms. A “glamping” option was desperately needed in this area, and Sipsey Creek Farms knocks it out of the park. SCF is perfect for hikers who don’t want to deal with all the trouble of camping for whatever reason, or for families who are looking to introduce kids to the camping experience without throwing them in the deep end or risking a trip-ruining disaster.

This place has 3 or 4 large “canvas bell” style tents for rent, all through Airbnb. The tent sites are about 100 yards or so apart and easily accessible by car. You can see just enough of them through the forest to know they are there, but you can’t hear or see anything else. The tents are good-sized and do not feel cramped. I am aware of two tents that have two beds, and another that just has one. The beds are comfortable and do not feel worn out.

You also have access to many amenities, such as a barn, swing set, and catfish pond. The barn has a full kitchen, full bathroom, fridge, and running water. Each tent comes with a small outhouse, but for many the bathroom option may be appreciated. There are also numerous animals on the farm, and there are farm tours available, although I believe a donation is appreciated for these. But it is worth it: the animals are super cool and don’t act like your typical petting zoo animals who just aggressively eat food out of your hands. I think they are treated more like pets and act accordingly.

The host is also wonderful, and she is a big part of what makes SCF feel so special. She manages to strike the ideal balance of being caring without being meddlesome and being attentive without being intrusive. We requested the farm tour, which is how we met her, but I imagine you could stay at this place and barely interact with her if that is what you preferred. She is a big reason while SCF felt so much like home and her laid back personality permeates the premises.

I highly recommend Sipsey Creek Farms if you are interested in a glamping option in the Bankhead area. I am already planning a return trip for my family. Now that I have stayed here, I don’t know if I can ever camp in the backcountry again.

Incredibly cozy farmstead with a rustic ambiance. The yurts and beds are clean and comfortable. The host is slightly better than the candy, but not as good as the peanut brittle.

If you want to go tent camping in the Bankhead without having to pop a tent, sipsey creek farm is the perfect place to stay. We enjoyed a beautiful night under the stars after hiking the Bankhead. This is a truly special place.
