I love this place! They have everything needed for home, kitchen, auto, sports and even a jewelry store. Grocery selection is excellent and in my opinion is better than the big box stores. Seafood was well stocked. Meat selections were great as well. Super good variety of cheeses as well. My go to place while on vacation in Anchorage.

Love this Fred Meyer location! They are renovating right now, but they generally have one of the best organic sections in the city. Fred Meyer is such a convenient chain to begin with because of the variety of merchandise that they carry. You can pick up apparel, shoes, hardware, cookware, garden items, fresh sushi and groceries while sipping on your Starbucks watching whatever they have on the big screen tvs displayed opposite the checkout lines. I have been known to take breaks from mega holiday shops in the furniture section (nobody seems to care) And for those in a rush, there are plenty of self checkout lines.

The customer service is over the top. I dropped my 14 year old son off with a list and a bunch of coupons for an inaugural solo shop. It’s a big store and with so many brand specific discounts, I fully expected he’d be in there for four hours looking for items. I said…ask for help. He listened to me, which in and of itself made the experiment worthwhile, but he told me the employee who helped him literally walked him to ten different items to make sure he found everything. That says a lot about the training and attitudes of the staff.

They have a bargain shelf in the produce section which is worth checking out whenever you stop by. I’ve come home with a dozen perfectly good limes for $1 and massive bunches of bananas for around the same. Everything a little brown or perfectly ripe, so you have to use right away, but generally really good deals.

You’ll find everything you need and everything you didn’t need there, so make space in the fridge and bring lots of bags!

Winter 2023: Doing a big remodel and it is definitely an improvement…more room for organic and local!!

This store supports mean girl mentality.
I love the meat and vegetables selections. If there was a better store, I'd go. Since there aren't a lot of choices in Eagle River and finding employees is difficult - bad behavior is allowed here. It's abundantly clear by the turn over here.

This store is nothing like it used to be… overcharged for items constantly. I have to wait in line at customer service to get money back only to get an attitude for doing this too often, finally said I’m always here for the same reason.. to get my money back.. maybe someone should fix the problem I get excuses like ā€œThe system is not being updated to the sale priceā€, this means everyone is being overcharged for those items. Check your food dates.. FM is now selling expired food! I’ve heard othersā€ complaining about it too. Approx. a week ago, I pointed out that there were more than 15 expired items in the deli section expired. Someone did clear the shelf, but this happens too often. When items are on sale the shelf is usually empty, and does not get replenished until after the sale…as if food prices aren’t high enough. My phone as well as many othersā€ does not work in their store..no text, no calls.. they are aware of it and don’t care. Have to leave the store to ask if someone would like me to pick something up for them. The employees from years ago were great. Then suddenly they started hiring a bunch of young people, who not only didn’t care, but were very rude to customers. They started working on that due to so many customers complaining.

Nice and clean. Staff just kind of hanging around and talking instead of helping or stocking shelves. They seemed put off if someone asked them something like the person was interrupting their important conversations

This review is for the self-checkout staff and their managers. Self-checkout staff are rude and condescending. My experiences have been being treated like I’m trying to steal something (when the item doesn’t scan properly) or, being talked down to like a child about how to operate the self-checkout when the machine is acting up/feeezing. These check-out staff need training in customer service. We used to do all our shopping at Fred’s but now we only stop in for a few items and get the bulk of our groceries elsewhere because the checkout options are: wait in a very long line for the two open available regular checkouts or go through self checkout only to be treated poorly. If you don’t think that people have choices where they shop, think again.

We got a half and half pizza matanuska and i think denali, the dough was a little on the undercooked side. It was 3 dudes, so pretty quickly we just destroyed it. Got another matanuska, and were only able to finish half of it... 1 large pizza would stuff 2 hungry people no problem.
Only other meh moment was when one person ordered dr. Pepper and the other a diet coke, we were handed wrong drinks. Refill was correct, but second Refill was swapped again... luckily it was a keto thing and not a diabetic thing, but it wasn't ideal.
