10 years ago I worked with Calypso Farms on my wedding and the results were absolutely gorgeous. The pizza was amazing. The flowers for the bouquets, boutonnières, and tables were beautifully and thoughtfully done. The experience as a whole working with them on our dream was amazing. (Not to mention as far as weddings go it was affordable for us to pay for ourselves.)

In the following years I have taken spinning classes, enjoyed their open houses, seen them volunteer with the fibre festival, work within the community’s schools, and so much more. Most recently they hosted my son’s class for a field trip and he came home glowing from the experience. My husband was a chaperone and was so impressed with their patience with the children and their ability to teach and lead them in hands on activities such as bowl carving. They have been an inspiration for our own farm, and we are so lucky to have them in the Interior Alaska Community! Five stars is not enough!

Unforgettable Farm Camping Experience

I recently took my entire class of 24 to the farm for an overnight camping adventure, and it was truly exceptional. This field trip was by far the best I have ever experienced. The organization of stations was outstanding, and the staff's knowledge shared with the students was incredibly enriching.

The students had a hands-on experience at each station, which made the visit truly memorable. Here are some highlights of our visit:

Bees and Hive Functionality: Students learned about bees, their hive structure, and their role on the farm.

Livestock Study: They interacted with sheep, goats, chickens, and rabbits, understanding how these animals contribute to the farm's success.

Wood Carving and Wood Shop: Students learned to carve wood into bowls and each made their own to keep.

Fungi Exploration: The students went into the woods to learn about fungi and its benefits to the farm.

Greenhouse Visit: They explored the greenhouse and land where crops are grown each spring.

Pizza Making: The students enjoyed making their own pizza using fresh dough and veggies - a real hit among them!

Blacksmith Shop: They even visited the blacksmith shop to see the craft up close.

Hiking Adventure: An evening hike left the students in awe as the sun set, creating a magical experience.

Not to forget the amazing staff - Tom, Susie, and the team. Their wealth of knowledge and warm hospitality made the trip even more special. The experience was beyond measure, and their genuine and down-to-earth nature left a lasting impression on all of us.

I highly recommend taking part in their summer camps to experience the magic of Calypso for yourself. You wouldn't want to miss such a wonderful opportunity! 10 out of 10 would HIGHLY recommend!!

Calypso farm recently hosted an event for my daughters class, and I stayed as a volunteer. They got to rotate through stations to learn about different things including identifying native plants, greenhouse operation, sheep care and wool crafts, woodworking, and even a little about blacksmith work. At the end of the day all the students got to help prepare pizzas to be cooked in the farms woodfired oven. They all stayed the night in a woodstove heated yurt. Everyone in the class had a wonderful time judging by all their smiling happy faces! The whole experience was one that a lot of them would not get to do otherwise, so I was very thankful that they all got to participate in such a wonderful trip that will give them happy memories forever. Thank you Calypso farm for the amazing time!!

Calypso yarn is amazing and simply beautiful. The knit kits are so much fun and produce the most wonderful results. Plus the customer service is off the charts. I can’t recommend them enough. You won’t be disappointed.

I could spend hours there wandering their gardens. Their gardens have lots of beautiful flowers and veggies. I was able the chaperone my son's kindergarten/1st grade class field trip. Would do it again if I had the chance. Recommend mittens, hat, warm coat and warm socks if you go around Sept 21st. 🙂
