I was very impressed by the incredible selection of plants, flowering bushes, fruit tl as well as ornamental trees. While trying to decide which plants we were planning to buy, I spoke with Jaimie who gave me great advice about transplanting trees snd other gardening advice.

BUYER BEWARE
I went to East Bay Nursery to purchase some sphagnum moss for a propagation project. I’d never purchased it before so I wasn’t quite sure what to look for. I purchased a bag for $21.99; which I thought was a bit pricey, but I was happy to support a local store. I immediately went home and started on my project. However when I removed the moss from the bag something seemed off, continuing on I went to spat the moss and noticed it wasn’t very absorbent. So I checked the bag to ensure I was doing it correctly. As I checked out the bag I realized it said that it was for decorative purposes. Then I realized there was a sticker on the bag covering the ACTUAL name which was Spanish Moss. I was so surprised and confused. I called to let the store know to which they said they’d give me a refund. But why would they do this in the first place is my question?! Needless to say I’ll never shop here again. Shame on you for misleading customers

Sold me a spider mite infected plant for $100 (the first plant I have ever splurged on no less). Must have done a really good job at spraying away the visible ones because I didn't notice them until a few days after the 30 day return window. I've since been battling the mites for months and all the new leaves that come in look sickly and infested with more mite eggs. The second photo is its newest (and now only) leaf just after I've doused the leaf in more soapy water to try to kill the eggs. Won't be returning.

When I first walked into East Bay Nursery I felt completely overwhelmed with excitement!!! I wanted to walk every isle so not to miss anything... I was so pleased that everything I saw was healthy and seemed to be flourishing... This immediately told me that the staff clearly cared about their business... That was very comforting for me and I felt connected ☺️... The staff was friendly and was very attentive... The only thing bad I could say was that I got there at 4 and could not finish walking the entire Nursery because they were closing at 5... But it's ok, means I need to go back... Haha, found a new gem and very pleased... Oh, and prices were definitely reasonable... ?

While I was driving down San Pablo Avenue, I noticed East Bay Nursery on the corner. There was room in their parking lot, so, I decided to park and check them out. The next thing that I noticed was the wonderful murals that are painted on some of the outside walls. They also have a security guard. Out front, there are large watering troughs that could be used creatively for more than watering livestock.

EBN is neat and in order. Everything looks in it's place. It is also much bigger than it looks from the street. When you enter, you enter a specific way (and exit a different way—good for Covid prevention). Everyone needs to wear a mask. They have an outside structure that is covered, and has rows and rows of vegetable and herb starts.

They have an outside uncovered area with trees that are in season, and outdoor plants. Everything is labeled so you can easily identify what you are looking at.

Inside the room where you make your purchases, besides having indoor plants, there are tools, ceramic pots, and humming bird feeders. They are closed Sunday, and Monday. Also, if it raining—call to make sure they are open.

Such good plants!! Also they have dirt! Sometimes there are hot dogs. I took this picture of a lizard wearing a hat at a plant expo. We went to EB nursery afterwards because they have better plants, but unfortunately no hat wearing lizards. That's the only reason I didn't give 6 stars!

There are nurseries that have just the most beautiful displays, and you just want to buy everything and take it home and make your house perfect. And then there are nurseries for gardeners. East Bay Nursery has very nice displays but the focus is on customers who love plants. They have knowledgeable staff, a varied and robust inventory... you will be treated as a gardener, not a shopper.
