If variety, friendliness, and expertise is important to you, and you find yourself in Western Mass' Pioneer Valley, you should make it a point to stop by Clarkdale Fruit Farms. From their late summer peaches, to their variety of pears, and a ridiculous selection of apples - including a variety of heirlooms - you won't be disappointed. They also have both pear and apple cider, which includes an amazing vintage cider. And if you need a description of any apple in the place, someone will be there to help. I can't say enough about these people, and their produce.

I love this place, from the first crop of peaches, right through to winter apples, squash, pears, grapes, plums, etc. They have the best variety of locally grown fruit and squash in the county. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the fruits, especially the multiple varieties of apples. You can always ask for a sample to taste if unsure about a new variety. And their cider is the in the area.
