It was a miracle how we dropped in and had the most amazing farm day ever here at the Black Mountain Farm (BMF)! We were driving while looking for a ranch that opens on Sunday and sells eggs and randomly stopped by BMF. At the moment we were greeted, we learnt that it was a farm working day and volunteers were helping out planting. We were so lucky to run into this special event and get our hands dirty. Our little one was excited to use a shovel and a rake (and they found a kids size for him, how considerate!) for the first time in his life. He practiced pulling the plant out from the basket then placing it in a barrier “bag”, and finally fill the hole with dirt. We also learnt that there is a big purpose behind the planting, that is to restore the environment and contribute in improving the number of bees that have been declining these years. The farm is large, there are chickens, llamas, turkeys, a donkey, and even a peacock! We even touched the male turkey’s beautiful feathers when he was walking freely in the field. Our little one also collected different feathers from the ground and they are all so pretty! Michelle prepared a BBQ lunch for us and it was fantastic, our little one had a lot! Before and after the lunch, Doug gave us tours with the donkey, llama, and the baby llama! We all got a chance to greet them and also learnt about their stories, personality, and how they perform the work. It is the best animal encounter experience! BMF is now on top of our list. It has everything you can imagine a farm/ranch to offer, and the owner Michelle and Doug, together with their daughter and son, are such a wonderful family to be connected to. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Incredible fresh pastured eggs, delicious veggies year round, grown with regenerative agriculture--even better than organic! Farmer Michelle is very conscientious to raise her birds ethically. You can taste the difference in the care she gives everything. Support a local farmer!
