We love the Bergen equestrian center barn!
After riding there for almost 2 years it feels like home away from home.
Jennifer my daughters trainer is amazing! Can’t thank her enough for sharing her knowledge with my daughter and turning her into the little equestrian she is today.
Everyone works hard and the horses are so loved and well taken care of.
Definitely would recommend this barn to everyone.

This is a wonderful place to get to experience horses in a safe, fun, and healthy environment. Whether it be for a first time lesson, advanced lesson, boarding, training, camp, horse 101 classes, IEA team, shows, or equine assisted therapy at A Stable Life’s Wellness Center, there is something for everyone here. The management is easy to interact with and the horses are well taken care of.

A terrible unethical business. I made an appointment over the phone and I wasn’t told there is a cancellation policy where they still charge you even if you don’t go. I called to ask about it and the lady was so incredibly rude, she told me I signed a paper… how can I sign a paper if I made the appointment over the phone? Do you want me to apologize I didn’t make it to the lesson because I was in a car accident?

I never give reviews on google but I’ll give this place zero stars if I have to! They are rude to put it plainly! I got there on the day of my appointment, I immediately sensed something was off, ran to get the boots and helmet (good thing I came with a riding boots already) the lady was extremely rude to me and all the boots and helmets were very dirty and not well kept! I got to the arena and kept telling the instructor this is my first time riding like I have sat on a horse before but never went for a ride, she didn’t pay mind and they put me on the largest horse in the stables (Smalls), he was gentle and nice even more than the instructor. She paid no mind to the fact that I was scared or anything, completely ignored my feelings the whole time and went to tell me I should jump off the horse in the middle of the arena and I told her it was too high and she said just jump at least if you fall, it’ll be on the sand!! Like huh I said okay and proceeded to jump off and my leg hurt a bit but it was okay. Everyone looked at me weird and the only people who were actually nice to me are the girls in the stables who were helping to groom the horses and the other lady)who I don’t remember her name but I know her face. The costumer service was beyond horrible and they just don’t know how to talk. I regret ever coming here

My child has a strong desire to ride, and this is the only choice we have within 30 minutes. She loves the riding, but here's my review based on years of observation and words from others:

Unfriendly, overpriced, and "under" ridden.

"Jumping" literally means going over 6" baby cross rails that never get put up. It's a joke. I've never seen any lesson barn in my life where the jumps are set at 6" for everyone (except those with their own horses). My assumption is this is designed to "force" people who actually want to ride like "big kids" to pay a fortune to lease or buy a horse for the privilege of jumping 24" inches. My daughter will need to lease or move on.

Many trainers are so lazy that you will pay your huge lesson price, only to have them sit around talking to one another the whole time--in between sentences to their friends saying, "Trot, canter, change direction..." And you won't get a refund for your money, even though the trainers are bored out of their minds and taking it "out" on the riders.

The catch: After Essex closed, this is the ONLY barn somewhat close to the congested area of Bergen County/Essex County/NYC. Hence, they have a captive audience!

BUCKET LIST!!

I was interested in checking off one more box on my "bucket list". So, one of my colleagues suggested horseback riding. I have lived in BERGEN COUNTY for 42 years and never knew that the Bergen Equestrian Center existed until I called inquiring about lessons. Tammy was so warm and welcoming on the phone. I immediately knew that if she were that accommodating, I would definitely enjoy my introductory lesson.

I am scheduled in two days for my first lesson with Jennifer and I'll tell you all about it.

I am a mental health and substance use counselor and attender Bergen Equesteian Center with some clients to participate in some therapeutic activities with the horses. First of all, the staff was incredible. Anna and Jody are so knowledgeable and welcoming and even their volunteer, Carol was so passionate and helpful. I wish I could show you how our clients were impacted by their interactions with the stable's horses. It was amazing to see them bond with the animals and become more confident and less afraid. Find an excuse to come here. I will certainly be back!

I absolutely love this place. The horses are great, the instructors are great, the service is great, I highly recommend. I went for my first lesson and learned how to ride a horse and a lot of skills you usually learn on your 3 rd lesson. This place is absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend getting lessons here.
