They carry a rare selection of chocolate bars. Fellow chocolate fiends will appreciate this.

They also have some other unique items like sandwiche cookies with a cream center. If you can tell, I have a healthy sweet tooth.

Aside from that, the produce, as organic as it may be, is a small selection. Which is understandable considering the stores foot print.

Friendly team and good customer service are some other positives.

But in my opinion this neighborhood grocer is more suited for small grocery hauls, rather than buying a weeks worth of groceries for a family of four or more.

But that’s one person’s opinion.
Keep in mind the five star review.
I still definitely recommend the business.

I love love love this store. The produce and bulk choices are amazing.

Support neighborhood business. Give it a try. I promise you will find a treasure there. Tonight I bought a single mini avocado. And took it in a snack on a bike ride. I had never considered this as a bike snack before… but the mini size was perfect. Best $1.35 I ever spent on a snack!

I love this place. Welcoming old-fashioned small grocery with quality foods, some hard to find items, and many prices better than elsewhere. Dozens of "bulk" by the ounce foods. Organic produce from small producers at surprisingly good prices. Homeopathic items. Remarkable place really.

I love this grocery store, and I go there every 7 to 10 days. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The quality of the produce is better than Berkeley Bowl in my opinion.

I am on a gluten free diet, and I had a lot of problems with gluten attacks from the produce and cheese I bought at Berkeley Bowl (see my review for Berkeley Bowl West). I have never had a gluten attack from anything I've bought at Berkeley Natural Grocery.

Love this market, great fruit and veg selections. A good selection of cold drinks and dairy products. Even has a small homeopathic section. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I really appreciate how they handled pandemic protocols. I enjoy supporting this local business.

First off, I love this store, and the El Cerrito location is amazing as well. The products are wonderful and often, things I wouldn't find at a larger scale store, and it's in the neighborhood!
Of course, the prices are a tad steep and a turn off, but if you can't appreciate good, organic foods, don't shop here. It's a nice place to shop when you're around this part of town and need to make a quick run.
3 stars are for the reasons I've just listed. Why not 4 or 5 stars? Because I have found that the last several times I've gone in, I've either been looked up and down or simply stared at by almost every employee here. I can walk in to a section and know what I want and STILL have someone come up to me in a NOT polite manner. 2 days ago, an employee literally, stared at me as I walked by; no hello or anything. I can honestly say, the only person who was pleasant is Amanda.
That being said, the next time this happens to me, I will absolutely say something. Not sure if I'm being stared at because I'm not an older retired person like many people in the neighborhood, the color of my skin, or simply because I like to browse and take my time in this store. Hoping my next experience will be different.

Great place for reasonably priced good food. I love the raw grass fed butter. It, free range eggs and grassfed/finished beef for the win if you're an O blood type.

My all-time favorite place to shop for healthy foods in all of Berkeley. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Good variety. I will go out of my way to come here.
