So since we’re looking to purchase another half of a cow i thought it would be time to share my last experience from around 20 months ago. We purchased half a cow from Earth’s Echo Farms, and I’m sad to say our experience was less than desirable. I know farmers work very hard and we need them, however this meat turned out to be very expensive dog food! The beef was very tough, even the prime cuts, with a strong pungent kind of a wild game smell to where we couldn’t eat it. We tried different ways of preparing it like they suggested, but to no avail. When I called to talk to the owner about it in hopes they would try to help and possibly replace it, but all she said was “sorry we’ve never had this issue before” and that was it! We’re not sure if it was an older cow or maybe the butcher they used didn’t process it properly, either way it was very costly and so we could never take that chance with them, or refer them ever again!
