Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) is a major installation of the United States Air Force located in northwest Florida, about 3 miles east of Fort Walton Beach in the Florida Panhandle. The base is named in honor of World War I United States Air Service pilot 1st Lt. Harold Eglin.

With over 110,000 acres, Eglin AFB is one of the largest Air Force bases in the United States. The installation is home to the 96th Test Wing, which is responsible for test and evaluation of aircraft, weapons, and electronic systems for the U.S. Air Force and other Department of Defense organizations. The base also hosts the Air Armament Center, which oversees the development, acquisition, testing, and fielding of air-delivered weapons and accessories.
Eglin AFB features a 12,500-foot primary runway and a 9,000-foot secondary runway. It also has more than 600 miles of roads, 1,000 buildings, and 28 miles of scenic nature trails. The base is home to 53 tenant units and 10 mission partners, with a total workforce of approximately 23,000 military and civilian personnel.
Recreational activities on base include a golf course, swimming pools, a beach, a marina, and various sports facilities. Off base, the surrounding area offers numerous attractions such as the Emerald Coast, the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and the National Naval Aviation Museum.
