This farmers market shouldn’t be any different than any other farmers market but it is. Although everybody had a big sign we accept EBT , they sent me on a goose hunt to several different other people saying I had to trade my EBT credits for coins in order to buy fruit and vegetables desperately needed because of lasting inflammation of the heart from when I had COVID. They claimed they had an old machine, the machine was broke, the machine they had was for other areas and not this county. After being sent to 3 different people, we were not able to get the coins, but other people actually had those same coins in their hand and in their boxes with their money. We had to go back to the nice stand who seemed to be at a loss of what was going on who offered to give us free pick of what we want. That was beyond nice but even though O am low income that doesn’t mean to take advantage of farmers who are working hard for their families and probably already operating at a loss with everything that has been going on in the agricultural market lately. Usually these are the mom and pops farmers too so they have a smaller company. I thanked them politely but declined to take free food because they shouldn’t have to offer to give their products for free because they feel badly about how us poor people are being discriminated against us. We heard from some of the people running it that EBT isn’t available I’m the el dorado area because nobody request it out here because most people here are wealthy out here with a big house and two cars in the driveway. You want to talk about adding insult to injury. Those people surely know that their are low income apartments in this same county that are not in the elite wealthy stature of life. To get up early after my poor self worked double hours last night to come and try to get some organic products at a less expensive price than the expensive grocery stores in this county, and to come and patronize these small business owners just to have wasted my expensive gas to be slapped in the face with this is absolutely horrible insulting experience.
