I have a lot full of used metal parts and wire so I called to inquire. Not 30 seconds into speaking with the receptionist I was told "I don't have time to teach scrap 101." That's not how you run a business so I hung up after 27 seconds into the call. A receptionist is supposed to greet, guide, and facilitate potential transactions. In this case I was deterred immediately on a Wednesday @11am...

Maybe you could've used my pile of **** to replace the one sitting behind your front desk!

I'll be going elsewhere.

I went in on a Saturday. I had copper and brass. I went in the office with my boots and hard hat on. Showed my Id. Backed my car in the garage. The worker was helpful telling me how to get the most out of what I had by sorting it. Went back to the office to get my paperwork. Then I went to the cash machine to get paid. Everything took about 20 minutes. The place was clean and paid top dollar. They provide a service by paying people for scrap and keeping it out of a landfill. This place is so much better than any scrap yard in the city. If you need someone to hold your hand this place isn’t for you.If they have to pay more for insurance so you can bring your kids and not wear a hard hat they can’t pay top dollar. If they pay someone to sort your cat food and tuna cans they can’t pay top dollar. If they have to pay overtime because you come in ten minutes before close they can’t pay top dollar.

This is the best scrap yard in the area. Best rates on your scrap, professional, courteous, safety conscious, and patient. I go in with my little trailer and my truck have no problems when I unhitch so I can unload the truck. They've taken the time to teach me a little more so I can make more money on my scrap. The yard guys are always there to help if needed. They have hard hats that you can use if you don't have your own which I definitely recommend wearing one probably the only reason I still have two eyes LOL. State law states you have to provide your license so expect that anywhere you go. I've been to almost every scrap yard in the area by far this is the best and I'd recommend it to anybody every time

In response to some of the bad reviews below it’s a scrapyard not a Starbucks! If you don’t like their hardhats bring your own. Wear boots and expect to get dirty and don’t bring a freshly washed vehicle there. Don’t come on a Saturday a half hour before they close expecting to get the best service that’s just common sense.

Emert is easy in and out and has always paid me competitive rates for steel and copper. Follow the rules and you’ll have no problems.

1st time i tried to go here they wouldn't let my 10 year old son in, wouldn't even let him just sit in my truck. Second time i tried they wouldn't let me in because i wasn't wearing steel toe work boots. Both times lady behind glass was kinda rude about inforcing these stupid rules and if these are such important rules why aren't they on their website!

I used this facility years ago and got a good rate/experience. Well that all changed. After finding office walking in and bending over to hear the muffled instructions through the hole in the window. I guess scrap metal is very valuable and the need for a plexiglass window with a hole. It reminded me of the bodegas in the city. So the lady tells me to park on scale. I tell her I have 4 alloy rims. I park so they can get the weight of my 1500 gmc truck plus 4 wheels. I park and go back in she asked for my drivers license. I then go back out and get it. As she checks to see if I'm a terrorist all is good. Then she tells me to go to building on the left but before grab a hard hat out of the cabinet. I tell her I'm not putting on a hard hat that 50 men put on their head. So i got in my truck and leave. Take your hard hat and recycle it. So the moral of this review. Go to Joe Matteros in lansdale and have a great experience. No hard hats, no terrorist check......just nice people that take your scrap.

We saved aluminum for 6 years. I had my brotger load up 20 huge bags onto his truck. We called Emert to make sure we could get in and they said..no problem as long as we gpt there before 11:30...which we did. When we got there they made me hand sort bud bottle shaped aluminum from my soda n cat food csns...which my son and I did. Then a guy said 9 lives cans were tin and used a magnet n sorted some. He said any rusty cans we had were tin so we dod pur best to remove them. At this point my brother left with his truck n they saw that. There may have been up to 10% tin mixed with numerous poumds of aluminum at that point. The guy suddenly says we are gonna close so you have to put that back in your truck or we have to give you the cost,of tin for the rest. I was not permitted to sort out the rest..... they wanted to go home. Understand 90% of what was in the containers were soda cans and friskies cans ( which are aluminum). Basically..
We calculate that we were robbed of approximately $40 worth of aluminum and they knew my brother's truck was gone n my little toyota was in their lot. Legal thieves as at that point I had no choice and I was very dirty from sorting ( which we never had to do anywhere else. My husband is disabled and I hope they choke on their stolen beer money! Warning small time recylcers....go elsewhere!
