Visiting this Japanese house was like being magically transported back to Kyoto, Japan. If you are even mildly interested in classical Japanese architecture, landscaping or esthetics- I highly recommend a visit.

We were fortunate enough to visit while there were still some cherry blossoms on the trees.

The garden surrounding the house was sublime. I just wish I had more time to sit quietly and contemplate the home and its grounds. I suppose some people might make a brief visit- 30-60 minutes. However, I think it would have been wonderfully appropriate to allocate more time, sit and compose haiku.

Cherry blossoms drop
In the blowing wind and rain
Though peace, you may find

Lived in Philadelphia all my life and I have never been, shame on me lol. The grounds are so beautiful and peaceful. Glad I had a chance to take my kids and my nephew. They fed the koi fish. It was crazy HOT the day we went so we didn't stay long but on the right day as far as temperature and so wine 🍷 I could have sat there for hours.

For the price and size, this garden is overpriced, small, and way too overcrowded. Having traveled to Japan, this garden is certainly not worth visiting and spending your time and money elbowing your way through people who have no respect or interest in being in a zen atmosphere. The pagoda, the most interesting area, was closed visited (which is not mentioned on the website or outside the gardens). I could not wait to leave and would not recommend anyone attending who has any real interest in going to a place for a zen experience. Admission should be limited so that overcrowding is less of a problem.
