Called twice but no answer. Checked website and it said they had 6 in stock so drove across town to find out they got rid of them but did not update website. Would have saved me a trip if someone had answered the phone. They weren’t even busy when I got there. Need to do better at updating website and maybe get a portable phone. Will not be returning.

To me Hanna’s WAS the ultimate plant nursery. Not anymore! My dad and I drove over an hour to purchase 3 “Sweet” drift roses. I had already purchased 4 “Double Pink” knockout roses from Lowe’s. From the moment we got out of our truck, I started to think we had wasted our time. It was right before noon on a Friday and there were maybe 6 other customers. I went up to one of their many employees to ask for assistance only to be told “grab a buggy” as she pointed to the general direction of the drift roses. While walking into the actual garden center (where you pay) I did find these beautiful black velvet looking Petunias, so I grabbed 2. Since we still had no cart and had no idea where we were supposed to go get the roses, we tried employee #2. This time, I was just simply ignored. Inside the garden center, I asked employee # 3 & 4 if we could set our petunias down so we could get our roses. They reluctantly said yes, while looking very bothered by my questions. Finally, without a cart and on our own, we found the drifts. They looked horrible. I literally had to yell at employee #5 & 6 to even get them to turn around and look at me as they we’re trying to quickly pass us. I asked them if they were just brought out, or had been fertilized or treated. She responded with, “they’re not diseased”. That was it. That was all I got. So I finally located a cart (they were all behind and in an area back off from the garden center) and made the trek back to my dad. I struggled trying to find 3 that didn’t look too bad. I really regret this purchase as I’ve had to throw everything I have ever learned about rose care at them to make them look good. They were all infected with powdery mildew. Thankfully I’ve controlled it enough because it’s not spread to my other Lowe’s purchased roses (which are preforming great). The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because they had great prices on stone. We are working on a flagstone pathway. They had stone for .25/lb. we had to wait for over an hour to even get someone to help us, but we were able to get it loaded and got out of there. For the 2.5 hours we were there, 2 hours were spent standing around around waiting for someone to help or give us directions and the 30 minutes was getting 2 petunias, 3 drift roses, weighing and loading 6 large stones, and paying for our purchase. See after waiting for 45 minutes to get help, dad and I decided to separate. We thought maybe someone would be willing to help us if we looked all alone. I’m guessing they employ at least over 15+ employees. My advice would be to get rid of half of them and only employ some that actually want to help instead of just standing around talking to each other while one waters plants. I will never go back. There are plenty more helpful plant nurseries that actually care for their customer’s interests.

Great experience, not just outdoor plants but also house plants. Many rare plants that a lot of nurseries don’t have but a lot of people want.
Just a few that caught my eyes. Prices are reasonably priced. Definitely will come here whenever I’m in bham. They have a good bit of exotic plants.

The selection is impressive and the prices are good.
However, employees at this place will lie to you about the "warranty" they offer and then the business will not honor it.
Do yourself a favour and do not believe what employees tell you to sell you stuff. The only thing that will matter is what's on the receipt. We foolishly believed what an employee told us during a LONG conversation about two trees we were buying and when they died, the business refused to honor what we were told instead offering us a credit for 15% of what we originally paid.
We took the credit, got a couple of flowers and decided to never spend our money at Hanna's again.

"Training opportunity"?
Shady business practices?
In my experience with this place, the jury is out.

My experience at Hannah’s was amazing. I’m an out-of-state landscaper who was doing some last minute work for a hotel. They gave me great recommendations for local flora and were able to deliver my order straight to the hotel after making the order at 4:30 the previous day. All members were kind and very helpful and the plants looked great. I’ll never use Lowes or Home Depot after finding them, so happy to support local!

Went in this morning at 8:30. Mine was the only car in the parking lot. No one spoke to me. Employees were inside joking around except for one girl who was watering plants. Several even looked out at me walking around. I left. Went somewhere else & got $$$ worth of merchandise by a small business who appreciates their customers. Customer Service matters!!!

Went here today for the first time to check it out since we are redoing our patio with new plants. This place is huge and has a great selection. I was greeted by a very polite young man right after arriving and he asked if I needed help. I said hello and thanked him and told him I was just browsing. Nice plants, pots, etc. Reasonable prices and I love that they guarantee their plants with a one year warranty as I overheard one of the workers explaining this to another customer upon checking out. The only turn off was inside there was a handful of employees all standing around laughing, talking and goofing off rather than checking on and offering to help customers. Customer service definitely makes or breaks any business and that is potentially something this place could improve on. Overall I enjoyed visiting and browsing around. I still will consider returning with my husband on the weekend to purchase some plants for our back yard and patio area though.

Update: been back twice since original review and customer service has greatly improved.

I've created three wildflower and perennial gardens on our lot this year. I cannot believe the massive selection of perennials at Hanna's. Hard to find flowers like Baptisia, Allium Millenium, a huge phlox selection and countless other options are available. This year I've added 36 different perennial plants to my garden - all from Hanna's. I love to support local businesses but it's even better when you can get an "internet selection" in your hometown. Thank you, Hannas!
