We came for lunch and didn’t expect much but man it was pretty good. Not a big burger fan but this is a greasy burger just like what we were wanting. They have some unique items and burgers. The fries were also really good with large portions. I’d come back for a greasy burger.

The applewood bacon burger was delicious, as were the fries and sweet potato fries. My kids ordered chicken strips and they’re delicious and there were a lot to go around. We ate outside on a picnic table with a nice view of the ocean.

Ordered the pork sandwich, fish street tacos, and burger. All of it was super delicious! Staff was really great. Don't like that places ask you to tip before getting your food. So i tipped afterwards - problem i had to do this with cash so it messes with my food allowance on the credit card. Places would get so much more if they didn't charge right away or held open the tab or something. But i get it. Good luck.

Island Ono Loa Grill was AMAZING. The burgers were so tasty! The local grassfed beef was an excellent choice. The applewood bacon was a perfect topping. The fries were good, but a little too salty in my opinion. If I really like a restaurant, I get a T-Shirt if they have them, and this place was a T-Shirt place. Very nice view and staff as well.

Browsing restaurants in Kona and this place caught my eye, largely due to its rating on Yelp as the 8th best burger in America. I decided to stop in while in town to see if the rating is still true.

Came at around 2:30 PM on a Monday and they weren’t too busy. It took a second to get my order placed though since the cashier was in the kitchen eating food…

I ordered the Applewood Smoked Bacon Cheeseburger as my meal. I WAS going to get fries, but the cashier said they were out. But here’s the plot twist, while I was waiting for my food, I saw one of the chefs with a FULL bin of fries by the fryer! They were also serving onion rings at the time so it didn’t make sense they couldn’t make fries at the same time… I was pretty disappointed by this.

Despite this though, the burger was actually pretty good. The bun was sweet and flavorful, the meat was juicy and decently seasoned, and the bacon was crispy.

Overall, I was a little underwhelmed by my experience largely because of the ordering process. Maybe I’ll be back? I’m not sure.

Small place, big flavor!!
This gem is tucked off the main street. Everything is made FRESH to order: we’ve been twice and everything was GREAT. Burgers live up to the hype. Prices are very reasonable.

A handful of tables outside, and a small dining area inside. Super nice staff and ordering system (order and pay at the counter, then receive a buzzer). Leave your number to join their loyalty program because you will be back!

Burgers and fries tasted really home made. They were okay.
