Killino Farms is Hawaii the way you want it. Lush, quiet, a view of the sunset, and convenient to shopping and coffee shops. It is local, not touristy. So you won't get all that fake plastic junk that smells foofy. Instead you will get REAL 100% Kona coffee beans, fresh fruit, lush flowers, and geckos. You will hear frogs at night, and roosters in the morning, mid morning you will hear chickens making those cute chicken sounds. You will see Daisy the dog running through the grass following her trusty master Todd. This is a working farm people, so there is work for the family to do.
Sitting on the lanai having fresh coffee in the mornings and then having a beer in the afternoon is all great. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes north that has everything you want, and there are also local places to eat.
Two step is a close drive, Captain Cook and Kealakakua Bay are a nice drive and a town where you can, if you want, get foofy things.
Volcanoes NP is 1.5 hours away.
Note: be patient driving down the driveway!! GO 5MPH or you can do some damage to your rental car. You will bounce around if you go any faster than 5mph.
Todd was a great host and was easily accessible by text. He will take you on a tour of the farm (which I highly recommend) and make sure you are comfortable and set in your rental.
Thank you Todd for making this a great stay!

My family stayed here for several weeks at the end of January/early February 2022, and it was perfect. It was the second time we've stayed here and will return! Todd is a very accommodating and welcoming host, fresh coffee, fruit and flowers for guests! He has lots of great info on the best local spots too. The farm with its geckos, toads, caterpillars, and monarch butterflies was so much fun for our two little boys to enjoy. It was so relaxing just to sit and enjoy the view of the yard we had...we felt so at home, it was really hard to leave. The location is great if you enjoy swimming and snorkeling at two step or Ho'okena. We traveled all over the island while based here though. Because it's up at higher elevations, you could enjoy the hot sun in the morning with cooler temps in the evenings for sleeping. The driveway may be bumpy as other visitors mention, but we had two wheel drive and just went slow. It was fine. It's a farm so remember that. We stayed at other hotels on the island and preferred this place...it was the most comfortable and felt like we could actually experience a real part of Hawaii. Like my 5 year old says, this place is way more fun than other places we stayed. Thanks, Todd! Aloha, from George.

Stayed here this past week while on vacation and would definitely stay here again. Owners are great and the room was perfect. Compared to a hotel this will save you a boatload of money that you can then use for other things on the island. It has fridge/freezer, stove/oven, and plates and utensils. We bought a few items at a store for breakfast and to make lunches with that we kept in the fridge and then we were gone from dawn till dusk. Location was good if you want to see various areas of the island (Volcano national park, south point, up into kona). Waipiβo Valley was about a 1.5 hour drive away. There is a great snorkel area just minutes down the road (two-step) and a beach also nearby. Was neat to walk around the farm as I had never seen coffee trees or many other items growing that I regularly consume.

We visited in 2018. The place was exactly what we were looking for and Todd(Host) pointed us in the right direction for all the best beaches.

Live like local on beautiful Kona coffee farm. We stayed a week at Killino Farms and it was perfect. The location is just south of Captain Cook and very convenient to go to 2 step beach for excellent snorkeling. Short drive to supermarket and some good restaurants (be sure to go to Annie's Burgers). Todd and Kim are perfect hosts. They gave us lots of helpful information before and during our stay. The unit is clean, comfortable, private and well stocked. We had absolutely everything we needed - including washer and dryer - which made it much easier to pack for a two week trip. Best part is the lanai - loved eating breakfast with the beautiful paradise surroundings and dinner watching the sunset. Louie, the dog, greeted us each morning on the lanai for a belly rub. We are dog lovers and missed our dog - so we totally welcomed his visits. I am sure if you don't want him there (and don't give him a belly rub) he will be on his way in short order and won't bother you. Todd and Kim had a beautiful floral arrangement, Kona coffee from their farm and a bowl of Hawaiian fruits from their farm. Cannot wait to return - it was simply paradise

Just spent a restorative week on this enchanting farm in the heart of the Kona coffee region.
There were many reasons we chose to stay here:
1 This place is real and the their impact on the ecology of the island is minimal compared to the larger hotels.
2 Supporting small business has always been our preference.
3 The Central location of this guest house was perfect for our needs. Close to shopping, beaches, and attractions on the Big Island.
Things we did not expect:
1 Friendly knowledgeable inn keeper.
2 Gorgeous cool starlit nights.
3 Fascinating array of plant life.
4 How delicious fresh Kona coffee really is.
5 The hospitality of the local people.
We did a lot from listening to live Hawaiian music while lunching at the local farmers market to snorkeling at 2 step to exploring the botanical gardens in the rain forest to driving across the top of a volcano.
After every adventure it was awesome to return to the peace and quiet of our GuestHouse In Kona. The chirping of the local fauna is a plus in helping you drift off to sleep.

Excellent place to stay to experience real Hawaiian lifestyle in the heart of kona country! Todd is a super host and very helpful! Everything was available for our pleasure, such as beach chairs , umbrella, towels .... he welcomed us late at nite with his own grown coffee , available seasonal fruit and a beautiful Hawaiian bouquet of flowers!
