This was exactly what I needed to start my weekend. I ordered the Dibi with Lamb. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Reasonably priced, huge portion size, and great service. I’ll definitely eat there again.

This place is an authentic home style cooking restaurant. The food was delectable and flavored impeccably. I had the lamb with Jolloff rice and spring roll appetizer. Mohammed was the consummate host and gave us suggestions on what to order and pairings. The ginger and hibiscus juices are great too.

Authentic West African food in an unfussy setting for take out, delivery, or dine in. I had the Dibi with Jollof rice. Delicious! I also ordered Fufu which our awesome and attentive host Mohammed served us with the best tomato sauce: Thiou. I would go back JUST for that sauce and whatever they serve with it! Already want to try their Maffe (peanut stew) and many other dishes (their portions were large, so have to return for that). Will definitely be eating here again.

I catered an event through Mawo’s kitchen. It was a resounding success! The owner was great to work with and offered advice to craft an exquisite meal demonstrating Senegalese cuisine. The Mafé (vegetarian for the occasion), Fataya, Thieboudiene, Yassa chicken, thiakry and beignets were authentic and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend to dine in and cater!

I also really appreciate how accommodating they were with my nut allergy—they took the time to ensure my meal was safe without compromising on flavor. This authentic, family ran West African restaurant is a hidden gem!! Our server was very friendly and accommodating, we loved chatting to her. We ordered the grilled Tilapia and fried rice platter and shared it between two of us. The food was fresh and super flavourful, we were so pleased with our meal.

I just came back from my country and was craving shawarma. This shawarma is the best I’ve ever had, even better than the one I had back home. The dibi was soooo juicy and tastes AMAZING with the onion sauce.

I’m happy I don’t have to NYC for Senegalese food anymore. Aunty at the front was so nice and the decorations here are beautiful!! Food 10/10, customer service 10/10. Congratulations on the new restaurant and I pray that this restaurant prospers!! ❤️

I've order from Mawo plenty of times. I usually get the Thiepbouyapp. but recently i've been ordering the thieboudienne a lot and yesterday I was surprised to get a white thieboudienne if you know anything about thieb its that the white one is rare. This thieboudienne was so good I thanked God for making me Senegalese because there is not rice dish that compared to Mawo's white Thieboudienne! It was so flavorful it was smokey the fish was nice portion and well seasoned. You have a customer for life!
