We booked the self-guided tour the day before. We arrived at the nice visitor center which is certainly worth a visit before entering the shuttle bus that brings you to the tropical garden. It's a scenic 15 minutes drive. We have been assigned a 2 hrs slot for our self-explorer tour. We were so excited! Money and time were well spent!

We went on a gorgeous tour and had a wonderful guide for the best of both worlds option. Our guide was a wonderful older gentleman whose name currently escapes me. He was very knowledgeable and was a great educator. The stories and history I absorbed as he led us through these beautiful gardens was inspiring and such a joyful multisensory experience. I smelled wonderful flowers I'd never fathomed,tasted fruits I couldn't find anywhere else and marveled at the incredible and vital work they are executing at this globally important plant research facility.

They are helping to save precious ecosystems and should be funded by anyone that has the means. If I was a billionaire they would have all they need. Please visit and support.

A truly spectacular tour of two of the most beautiful tropical gardens in the world. Makai, our guide, clearly has enjoyed learning everything he can about the gardens and loves showing them. He not only loves the flora but also the history of how and why they were designed. His enchantment with these gardens and how the film industry has demonstrated their beauty is infectious.

very beautiful place to explore the plants for hawaii, both native and non. We did the self tour, which was $30. They drove you in a bus to the park there and back. I thought it was worth the price point, and you're there for about 2 hrs
I was able to see all the things there during that time.

I saw a negative review that was ironically about the bus we were on. they had signed up for the first tour of the morning. we received texts warning us to leave early due to construction. the driver waited as long as he could without ruining the whole day. anyway...if you see this man's review..please know we were on the bus he was describing! the gardens are stunning. Well worth the $$$. a must see. :))

Truly incredible. We did the Best of Both Worlds Tour, and I’d highly highly recommend it. We had a great, fun group, and the tour guide was AWESOME (I can’t remember his name because I’m horrible with names but he was a native Hawaiian with the best sense of humour). Perfect activity for our honeymoon, we had the greatest time!!!

We just had the most wonderful tour of both gardens. Ron was a fantastic, funny and knowledgable tour guide. One of my favorite tours on Kauai. We had a group with all different ages (little kid, teenager, adults) and everyone loved this tour equally. Highly recommend.

I purchased a guided tour for my family. It was appropriate for small children. We were taken through part of the Allerton Garden on a guided 30-min bus tour, then given a walking guided tour for the next 2 hours. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, well kept, and the stories are interesting about its history.
