Definitely worth the drive even if this is not your ‘local’ nursery, the BEST customer service anywhere, and amazing plant selection!! Sarah and her team did a makeover in our yard and it came out perfectly! Thank you for the listening to what we wanted and providing top notch care with our project. I have been doing business with McDonnell Nursery since moving to Orinda 17 years ago. I'm an avid gardener and am pretty particular about both quality of product and customer service when it comes to gardening. The staff at McDonnell Nursery hit the sweet spot beautifully. They sell high quality products at fair prices, are extremely knowledgable without being snooty or dismissive (an experience I've had with their unnamed competition in Lafayette!) and are just exceptionally nice to work with. Definitely the best nursery I know of!

It’s expensive, but this is the place I get my Christmas tree every year. They will wash it, put it in your stand and deliver it to your house for a small free. Always high quality trees.

This is a terrific family owned nursery that has been in Orinda for many decades. The staff is always helpful and delightful to deal with and their rose classes are especially good.
