I began volunteering at meals on wheels last spring. One of my best friends who passed away so unexpectedly, was a client . he always told me how great they were and how much he depended on the organization. In his memory I decided I would do it once . After doing it once and meeting some of the clients I found out how vital it is to them . I’ve been volunteering ever since . For some of the clients not only is it their only meal it’s their only contact with anyone. The organization is needed beyond words . Lara and the volunteers run a exceptional organization. It’s ran with a great professionalism , efficiency and above all a kindness. Lara and the group do it amazing, the cooks and help have so many meals prepared . Never late not once always on time . Within fifteen minutes so many meals bagged and in coolers loaded and dispersed to volunteers to be delivered all over Mercer county . Amazing job . Like I said I was only going to do it once in my friend mikes memory but I could never stop now . It’s to needed to quit and at 55 years old it’s the most meaningful thing I’ve done . David S

My husband and I have been volunteering to deliver meals for this agency since April. We have found their process to be very organized and their staff to be professional and appreciative of their volunteers. Best of all, is the help they give their clients to eat healthier and have more contact with the outside world. It feels good to play a small role in their efforts.

Very disorganized organization. The one in charge is always late while the volunteers wait patiently for the meals to come out. First they tell you "not to give away a hot meal that is left over" and the next week they ask "why didn't you give a meal away that belonged to someone else"...they forgot a customer's meal for the weekend and we waited around and went to lunch so we could go back and pick up the meal and deliver it. the meal was never put in the refrigerator and when we called, they asked why we didn't just give the meal that was in the refrigerator under another customer's name. the volunteers' time is just as valuable as theirs and i'm not sure they see it that way. SAD.
