5 Stars – Spontaneous Cravings = Satisfied at Mitsuwa!

It all started with a quiet Sunday inside a church… and ended with a full belly and shopping bags at Mitsuwa — because when the craving for Japanese snacks calls, you answer with your whole appetite! My cousin surprised me outside the church with a spontaneous invite, and suddenly, our chill day turned into a Japanese food adventure.

From slurping flavorful ramen at Santouka, to sipping matcha lattes, biting into mochi donuts, and stocking up on our fave Japanese snacks (yes, I got my beloved Royce chocolate, matcha marshmallows, and rice crackers!), we were basically kids in a foodie wonderland.

We each explored our own cravings — food court, dessert stalls, grocery aisles — and regrouped with happy hearts and satisfied taste buds. Mitsuwa is perfect for family, friends, or spontaneous foodie missions.

Highly recommend if you want your taste buds to take a little trip to Japan — no passport needed.
We came for the cravings… and left with full carts and fuller hearts.

The store is amazing. Unique items from Japan and lots of Korean goods as well, catering to the local community. Food court is great. Avoid on weekends as the parking situation is horrendous.

The food here is always amazing. If you want authentic Japanese cuisine come here. There’s plenty of food options for dining in at the cafeteria. There are plenty of snack stands. There is also a supermarket section where you can purchase produce, appliances, premade food, ingredients for cooking, instant noodles, and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic.

I go there at least once a month with my children. The food selection in the food court is top notch. Also the ingredients in the supermarket too with hard to find ingredients like kanpyo, and Oden.

I recently visited Mitsuwa Marketplace after 18 years—my last visit was in 2007—and was struck by how much the place has changed while still retaining its authentic Japanese charm. The marketplace now combines modern updates with the nostalgic ambiance I remember, offering a wide array of Japanese products that immediately transport you to Japan.

One of the highlights was discovering incredible deals, such as Natto priced at just $0.49, which showcases the store’s commitment to reasonable pricing without compromising on quality. Whether you’re looking for fresh ingredients or traditional snacks, Mitsuwa offers a delightful shopping experience.

However, a noticeable change is the dining area. While the food remains delicious and true to its roots, finding an available table during peak hours proved challenging. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience was outstanding.

It’s fascinating to see how Mitsuwa Marketplace has evolved over the years, striking a balance between modern convenience and timeless cultural appeal. For anyone eager to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and cuisine, this place is a must-visit.

Pretty good asian grocery store. But we mostly come just for the ube soft serve, which is fabulous. It's a must have!
