This place is A MUST stop if you're near by. The food is absolutely delicious, we ordered the cold pupu sashimi crudo plate and it was divine. The fish was fresh and the yuzu seasoning was fantastic.

The quality of the fresh fish was so worth it. And the atmosphere and staff were beyond amazing. When we come back to big island we will definitely be back.

Moa Kitchen is hands down the best restaurant on the Big Island! Every dish is fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and bursting with flavor—all served with the warmth and care that embodies true aloha. The love and attention to detail shine through in every bite, making for an unforgettable dining experience. If aloha had a taste, it would taste like this. Pure magic!

I really enjoyed my chirashi-sushi. Fish from 🇯🇵 is very much top-notch. Aki the bartender is a very entertaining and personable and interesting guy. Food portion is not big - but with the quality level presented it is very reasonable. I lived in Kyoto for 4 years so I think I know something about 🇯🇵 food; I will be back!

Its refreshing when you can find amazing eats in a small town. I loved the ramen as it had a great fusion of ingredients less common. The sushi was extremely fresh and light. I’ve never tried brown rice with sushi but was pleased. The environment was cool and casual. Two thumbs up!

This is an outstanding restaurant on the Big Island. Along with Merriman's next door, this was the best meal we had during our ten day Big Island vacation. Most highly recommended. The food was outstanding - we sampled widely on the menu and nothing disappointed. We drove over from Waikoloa, and I would drive further than that to eat here again.

BEST Japanese restaurant I've visited on the Big Island!
I was very surprised to find that they had authentic edomae sushi (kohada, akazu and boat-shaped shari!) in the Google Maps photos, so I decided this is a must-try. Unfortunately they told us they just canceled their sushi menu. So we just ordered two bowls of ramen for a quick lunch. It turned out to be some of the best ramens I've had in the U.S.!
We ordered the Hawaiian Spicy and Salt Chicken. You can tell they used actual chicken broth with little artificial seasonings, and the soup is very flavorful. The noodles are cooked slightly al dente, chewy and smooth. The chicken breast chashu is so tender but full of flavors from the brining. The raw onions seemed strange to me at first, but it adds a unique sweetness and fragrance to the soup. The chilli oil in Hawaiian Spicy isn't too spicy, but it's very fragrant, and adds a bit of a zesty taste. The extra noodles are dry and cooked to perfection as well.
Way better than the other famous Japanese restaurants on the island. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Waimea!

Intended or not, the food here is very well thought-out in terms of taste, portion, and ratio. Price is reasonable, too.

In my Shio Yuzu Ramen, the noodle to broth ratio was perfect. There was enough noodle for the dish to be filling and just the right amount of broth to finish without forcing yourself to swallow half a gallon of broth left like some other places do.

My friend ordered the Dan Dan Ramen and shared a similar experience.

The yakitori was really good, tender, and made fresh to order.

Overall, this establishment deserves more recognition and I highly recommend! It is authentic Japanese food and the owner is Japanese, too.

Sorry for the poor photos! I was too hungry.
