I had a chance to visit Mohala Farms recently and it is a beautiful amazing farm. They have lovely organically grown vegetables including bananas, plantains, swiss chard, kale, collard greens, arugula, breadfruit, lemons and cassava. The lead farmer, Mark, really cares about taking care of the land and teaching people about the Hawaiian culture. You can buy their produce through their CSA program or at the Waialua Farmers market on Saturdays. Highly recommended and please support local agriculture. They also hire farm helpers and accept farm volunteers.

This farm uses human waste to fertilize their crops. It is an extremely unhygienic environment. They use a mixture of bleach and water to wash their vegetables. There's a huge roach infestation where they store all of their food. I've worked on other farms on the north shore and this farm is by far the least hygienic and cares the least about food saftey with unpaid and untrained workers handing everything on a daily basis.

A really friendly nonprofit organic working farm. The owner, Mark, is very passionate about the mission and there are interns and fellows living on the farm. We were able to check it out this week with our photographer friend. Lots of mosquitos!! They sell their produce (greens, citrus, beets, herbs, eggs, etc) at the Waialua Farmer’s Market on Saturdays. Thanks for letting us visit!

Rural but very friendly. Expect bugs but also incredibly helpful farm workers who make this back country destination unforgettable.
