Consumer WARNING: I just bought a 1lb. package of Mild Italian Sausage from Safeway which contains 5 links. I was working on a recipe that calls for 8 oz (1/2 lb.) of sausage for which I obviously conclude I would need 2 and a half sausage links. But since the package contains odd numbers of sausages, this led to my curiosity to weigh the sausages. Lo and behold, it only weighs a little it over 12 oz., which is almost 4 oz short of the stated package content of 1lb (16 oz). I even weighed to include the packaging, and it still fall short. I don’t know if this is an inadvertent production / packaging error or just plain CHEATING. Next time I’ll weigh everything before I check out. I hope this is not a company-wide practice hoping the consumer will just trust printed product informations.

Theirs is the BEST hot Italian sausage! We all just luv it and used it regularly for our Friday night pizzas. Unfortunately, Winco, where I bought it, recently stopped carrying it and I haven't been able to find it anywhere locally. If you spot it at your grocery, grab it!

I have been using their sausage for a while now and sadly it took a turn for the worst. Maybe it was just a bad batch or they changed their recipe. It has very little spices and too much fat. No italian in it! My soups we make sucked and i didnt know what it was until i tried the sausage by it self. Seems they used some type of filler too. The amount of white was so high but produced little amount of actual liquid fat. So i am guessing silica or or starch. I could test for silica since i work in an environmental.

Buyer beware! I just witnessed a delivery of several cases of this sausage to Foodmax in Yuba City, all the way from Sunnyvale! The boxes of sausages came out of a non-refrigerated delivery truck (same truck pictured on the internet). The inside looked like the inside of a U-Haul - with no refrigerators, freezers or even coolers. In fact, the truck was empty. The internet photos show the sausages displayed in refrigerated cases. Foodmax doesn't care about food safety... so don't buy there! Foodmax employees don't even wear masks in their bakery! 😵

I have brought there lean ground pork many times but now it's 14.3lbs instead of 1 pound. I guess I will have to stop buying from them I like the sausage too. But it's now a lb too.

Roasted bell pepper and carmalized onion sausage sounds great but contents are predominently hard white chunks of fat that smell like dirty dishwater when cooked. Skeptical, I went heavier on the eggs, mushrooms, onions...then garlic salt, black pepper, more salt. cayenne....still no redemption. Uncharacteristically round-filed a portion of it. A bonus long-term greasy aftertaste made me regret not doing it earlier.

I delivered a load from lowa the other day. Nice employees got unloaded quick. Place used to be a restaurant so it’s kinda tight for a large truck. The only problem was that the company had set the temp wrong but they still took it.
