What a beautiful nature. I loved hiking with my family. I think it's $5 dollars per person and child under 3 for free to enter the park. They have nature trails with birds, different trails longer, and shorter. Not a difficult trail, even my 3 years old was aible to walk and on more dangerous parts we carried him. Lakes look beautiful, but I heard that it's dangerous to swim in them. The fall that we were hiking to was dried out, so we will have to come again after rain. Also, I saw the playground big. And the fountain is really nice.

10.12.2024 - I visited this park. It is huge and has something for everyone. I hiked a trail to Peavine Falls, which is accessible via the main gate of Oak Mountain State park. The falls is approx. 20 minutes from the main gate. The Falls was not rushing when I visited probably due to lack of rain. The photos are of the gorge by the falls

I paid 1$ for a map & the cost is $5 per adult to enter the park.

The staff member at the gate was professional and informative. There was a festival at the park when I visited

We loved this park. It was $5 a person to enter the park. Well kept, clean bathrroms, great staff, good swimming area, biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, paddle boards, peddle boats. Our rentals to kayak and paddle board were $20 a hr per item we rented.

Located outside Birmingham, Alabama this state park hosts of variety of activities. Weather permitting you can hike, bike miles and miles of trails throughout the park. There is also a wildlife refuge, lakes for fishing and boating with a ramp, and paddle boat and kayak rentals, horseback riding rental or bring your own, playground and picnic areas for children, and pet friendly as long as dogs are on a leash. we hiked to the waterfall area, which is a short distance but quite treacherous in some areas so be prepared with proper attire. Due to lack of rain, the Falls were completely dry and no water in the stream. Still a beautiful hike in the woods.
inexpensive park entry, And restrooms and showers are available and free at the main parking area. Be sure to bring your own snacks and beverages just in case you get hungry and thirsty on your trek.

We camped in our Class A 30ft motorhome for 2 nights in the Equestrian Campground and loved it. Beautiful park! Nice lakeside beach area. Many trails for foot and horseback if you’re so inclined. Also enjoyed seeing the nature center and the bird sanctuary/rehab facility. Not far from Birmingham/Bessimer where we had a wedding to attend.
