It's sad the new owners are going to trash this once unique place with bland apartments with overpriced generic dining you can find literally anywhere else. I will actively tell people to protest the redevelopment ideals and I hope the community gets together and changes the construction plans for the better. Change is nice but we should leave the more long standing semi-historical places alone. We should instead fix them up and make them better while keeping up with the themes and history of the places in these once considered small towns.

Great food as always, service wasn't bad, however, ice water didn't arrive til I had finished eating. I requested about halfway thru. Prices have gone up, just like most places. I love the old country music they play, very nostalgic!

In case if you're wondering...with the proposed redevelopment, OCMC will be moving to the location where Phil's BBQ was in San Marcos.

Wonderful place to eat. Even though the informed us they were short-handed, the staff was courteous and efficient. The food came out hot and well timed with drinks and appetizers.

I haven't been to Old California Mining Company since '99-'00...yeah it's been a minute. At this time they aren't taking reservations. The restaurant wasn't terribly crowded, and they offered indoor or outdoor seating. Back in the day I remembered having a chicken dish, and the garlic mashed potatoes that were to die for! Tonight, I was open to trying something different, which was going to be the Sea Bass, but ultimately decided on the Miner's Club. The club sandwich wasn't made like a traditional club where it's cut in quarters - it looked like a toasted, sloppily made sandwich. It tasted great, but the presentation was terrible. The fries were good - can't really get fries wrong. I also had a Cadillac Margarita which was okay. The waitress was great and very attentive, but I was hoping she'd ask if I wanted dessert. I knew when I got there that I was going to consider it, and forgot about it. I'd go back again and try the Sea Bass with the garlic mashed potatoes.

Service was attentive. My salad was good but the potato cheese soup was served cold, however when I brought it to their attention they immediately took care of it. We were part of a large group and everyone seemed to enjoy their food.

Demolition on restaurant row will begin in the next few months and a park and affordable housing is gonna take it's place
