This site within Paradise Hills Community Park is being transformed. A small landfill capped and covered in the 1960s is now wrapped with demonstration gardens showing visitors how water-wise, climate-adapted native plants are both naturally beautiful and ecologically so important. Pollinators are in love with these gardens, expect to see plenty of butterflies most of the year. One of the garden areas is all about Kumeyaay ethnobotany and plants signs throughout the gardens are very informative

Wonderful to see the transformation of this park. Beautiful native plant garden, with a section dedicated to the plants used by the native Kumeyaay people. The native plant garden is a welcome addition to this neighborhood and will only become more beautiful as the plants grow and thrive.

Paradise Gardeners has worked with the City of San Diego to create this garden on the old landfill at Paradise Hills Community Park. So far, the plantings include a Pollinator Garden, a Kumeyaay Ethnobotany Garden and a Western Native Garden.
