We revisited the Pavillion with our shiba as part of the Fairmount Park Scavenger Hunt. You can enter the Pavillion trail by climbing through the yellow deer gate across from the Please Touch Museum. A truly beautiful and secluded spot hovering up in the trees around the Shofuso House. It’s a great place for picnics, photo shoots, or just getting away from the crowds. We usually end our days in Fairmount here and rarely, if ever, have to share it with anyone.

Wooded area prob full of ticks from deers, so beware. I had to run my dog to and from bc the grass is so tall I was scared she’d get ticks.😅 We only stopped to take a quick pic and left, then walked around the big park by the fountain area. Follow my dog on I.G. — she’s a great Philly guide! 😂 @MeikaMaligator

Worth the visit. It was a pleasent walk and visit. A little confusing to find. No markings. You have to walk through the big gate to find it. However, it was beautifully made and a nice visit.

The Pavilion in the Trees is a unique and poetic structure located in West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. Designed by the renowned artist Martin Puryear in 1993, it is an open wooden structure that offers visitors a tranquil space to enjoy nature from an elevated perspective. The pavilion is composed of a walkway leading to a gazebo-like area covered by a domed wood lattice canopy, approximately 24 feet above the ground. It provides a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding treetops and the Lansdowne Glen Creek watershed below. The Pavilion in the Trees is not only a place of relaxation and contemplation but also a work of art that blends functionality with aesthetic beauty, embodying Puryear’s vision of infusing public amenities with a touch of poetry.

As of the summer of 2018 they cut down all the trees around it. Definitely not what I expected.
Now from here you see cars, buildings and parking lots. 🙁

Pavilion in the trees is an amazing piece art tucked away in the middle of a forest near the Japanese gardens. Its seems very illegal when you enter, that means you're going the right way. Follow the trails and It's about a three minute walk to this wonderful piece of work.
