You can't miss Pele's Kitchen when driving down the adorable town of Pahoa - it's the brightly colored art-painted building. The inside is just as inviting, such a cool and artistic vibe!

My son and I were looking forward to breakfast here to celebrate our last day of our trip, and it didn't dissapoint.

We were greeted by the sweetest server who took the BEST care of us the entire time. She went above and beyond to be sure we were taken care of!

We were so impressed with all of the delicious vegan options on the menu, and they didn't disappoint. We tried the jungle juice (SO good!), exotic fruit plate, tofu scramble - and my son had the french toast. Everything was so fresh and delicious.

Pele's Kitchen is such a vibe, we will definitely be back!

We stumbled upon this gem. So lucky we did. Not only was the interior fun but the food was amazing. We had the sourdough French toast. Their homemade lilikoi syrup was incredible on top. Everything look delicious on the menu. The people were friendly.

It was the first time we ate here and I got to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here, adorable decor, delicious food, live music on a monday morning. It was a pretty happening place. We had coffee, shared a fruit platter(don't miss it!), my husband ordered their fish benedict and I ordered the spinach and mushroom crepes, with hollandaise sauce. Lovely little spot with so much character. Can't wait to come back someday.

10 days on the Big Island, and this was the best meal experience we had! Very friendly and accommodating service. The food was fresh and prepared perfectly. Worst part is we had to leave only enjoying Pele’s Kitchen once. We will have to make the journey back!

Great service and food! We got the fruit plate and shared a big breakfast! We had never had the majority of the fruit and were very pleased! Service was great! This was our first restaurant on our trip! The waitress was happy to tell us about the island and places to go see. Great art and stuff to purchase as well. We got to speak to the owner for a second as well! You can tell he is passionate about what he does. So glad we made this stop!

Colorful beautiful community. The dishes we had were adorned and fresh, and even the decorations in the place were edible, we took some decorative banana bundles with us, the staff was friendly and the food and drinks were delicious!

I have heard so many great things about Pele’s Kitchen and after referring others to it (because I felt 100% confident they would be great cuz I follow them on social media)— so I FINALLY got to check them out for myself. So glad we did!!

First of all- 10/10 for the vibe. Great local musician, playing guitar and harmonica (at the same time!). He killed it! 🔥 So appreciated that he was there even on a Monday(?) morning.

The ambiance is super fun with extremely colorful, hippy, sparkly, creative murals all over the walls— obviously inspired by island life and lava. Even the walls were adorned with jewels and a colorful light which slowly changed colors.

The food was presented beautifully— super fresh and delicious, many/most fruits and veggies having been harvested from the owners farm. (Tip- they do paid tours of their farm, so snag a spot if you are visiting the island and wanna see beautiful Hawaiian foliage and fruits and veggies.)

We had their Fresh Mango Ginger Juice, House-made Biscuits and Gravy and Breakfast Burrito.

👍🏼Mango Ginger Juice.

Biscuits and Gravy were nice and tender, with House-made Gravy. I could have used a bit more flavor in the gravy— and more gravy but only because I love lotsa gravy! 😂🤣 Technically speaking though- they did have plenty gravy for the biscuits though.

My husband is Mexican and we ❤️ Breakfast Burritos. Pele’s Kitchen had their own unique take, which I was not expecting (read: more healthy hippy food/Indian food type flavors)— but it was surprisingly delicious! Not surprising really because I was confident Pele’s Kitchen would fully live up to my expectations, because I had heard and read SO MANY great things… However, their take on the burrito was what surprised my mouth, coming from a Mexican food loving home. The flavorful rice inside it was what really made it shine to me. My husband enjoyed it also, but not nearly as much as I did (he doesn’t enjoy the Indian food type flavors, herbs and spices so much and had been hoping for Mexican style). If I had to suggest an improvement- I would want the salsa to be thicker so it “hugs” the burrito instead of runs through it.

The side “salad”/veggies that accompanied was absolutely beautiful! We loved the corkscrew veggies and flowers!! I love edible flowers so much!

The auntie (kapuna) that served us was very friendly and provided wonderful customer service— which is always a must in order to win me over, as I used to be a cast member at Disney World, so recognize and very much appreciate great customer service. Mahalo nui auntie!!

When given the opportunity— we will DEFINITELY be back!!

Keep up the great work Pele’s Kitchen!! We will continue to highly recommend you to our own guests when they need a breakfast recommendation. We can count on you guys to knock it out of the park and live up to expectations!!

Much aloha,
Rachel

I entered Pele's Kitchen hungry and left full with new friends. The owner is a spectacular human being with passionate energy. Everyone working at the restaurant vibrates so highly. The food and atmosphere were uplifting, inspiring, and grounding. Their coffee and hospitality was the best I had in the Puna District. Kind, accepting, warm, and welcoming.
