I’ve attended three of their Witch Hazel Festivals over three years, and every year I’m left wondering what goes on here. The grounds have all the ambience of an abandoned WWII movie set. As it turns out this place has a loyalty base, that makes people happy.

The nursery was closed when I was traveling through on a cold winter day, but because the folks there were working, they graciously allowed me to trek through the snow and visit the Hamamelis collection in full bloom and enjoy their wonderful fragrance! The essence of these winter bloomers is hope and courage. Thank you RareFind for my beautiful 'Jelena'!

I am a new customer, but ordered 6 shrubs this spring. Most were 3 gal pots. I drove by and picked them up. I am very pleased with their condition, and they are thriving. I was so glad to find a local nursery which had unusual shrubs. They were sold out of several shrubs I wanted, so I plan to order very early next year.

This is among the best retail nurseries for a broad range of azaleas, rhodos, and many rare and unusual woody plants. The staff is very knowledgeable

Ordered a beautiful witch hazel in Summer 2018. It grew well all season long, pushed out lovely bright yellow crinkly flowers in the winter. I will say it's nearly doubled in size by now, and I'm very proud to have such a rare and fun specimen in my Northern Forest-themed front yard.

We visited during Memorial Day weekend, and the rhododendrons are in full bloom. They have huge selections of rhododendrons and azaleas, many are not found in common garden centers, as well as a back garden that is a pleasure to walk through. The staff were more than helpful and very knowledgeable. We drove two hours to get there, and would go again. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

I have been going to Rare Find Nursery for years. I used to love it and got many unusual plants there. In the past few years things are really dwindling. Not that many "rare finds" anymore at the nursery. Now when I look at their website - it seems that it is more about how they are inconvenienced at having to be open not about how they want to sell plants to people. Do they really want to be in business?

RareFind Nursery is a gem. They have such a wonderful selection of perennial plants, pitcher plants, trees and shrubs. I am particularly fond of their pitcher plants and hamamelis ( aka witch hazels ). The pitcher plants are addictive. I originally started out buying only one pitcher plant 3 years ago, but I now have numerous containers of them. They are so easy to grow, and have beautiful flowers in the spring and summer. All I have to do is just provide them with a sunny location and water them every couple of days or so if there is no rain. In the winter, I put them into larger containers provided by RareFind Nursery and cover them with leaves or pine needles. They get their watering in the winter while they are dormant from any rain or snow received in the area. Then in the spring, I remove them from their covering, and in a few weeks they are starting to bloom. Make sure to attend one of their bog plantings in the summer. You can choose your own pitcher plants and companion plants, a container of your choice, and plant them on site or get it to go.
The witch hazels are fantastic. There is nothing so great as to see a shrub blooming in the winter even when there is snow. I highly recommend going to RareFind Nursery when they do their Hamamelis seminar in February or March depending upon the weather. They will have a great selection of blooming plants to choose from at that time.
The staff at RareFind Nursery are very knowledgeable and helpful. They can answer any questions that you have about the plants, shrubs and trees you are buying.
