For tourists without a car, taking the ferry from San Francisco ferry building to Sausalito is fast :30 minutes ride. On the way you get to see San Francisco from the water view, you will also travel right along Alcatraz island.

From the Sausalito ferry terminal it’s only a 2 minutes walk to downtown area with all the shop and restaurants.

FYI, those with the SF Clipper pass you can pay the ride with it. Or you can pay for the ticket right next to the entrance.

A beautiful place with a beautiful view of San Francisco. Houses with incredible facades, next to the sea and high in cascades in the hills. Restaurants, bars, shops... everything is done with taste and the coast with all possible clubs for water sports. I can't remember when I've felt more beautiful walking around a city than in Sausalito. If you are visiting San Francisco or somewhere in the area, a visit to this place is a must! Perhaps the best location for living in the wider area.

This is a nice, quaint little town to visit. Beautiful views of the bay. Nice shops to shop in. Great places to eat or just get a sweet treat. We love coming here in the summer time for a quiet walk and in the fall for Christmas shopping. Ferry terminal parking is very limited right now however. Also, be careful where you park in the lot. They have some spaces marked off with cones. Some people moved those cones and were being ticketed and/or towed when we arrived. Sausalito is clean and quiet so please leave it that way when you visit. Thank you.

Benches and views make this a good place to wait for a ferry.

This ferry terminal features loads of seats. There are water fountains and machines for purchasing tickets and reloading Clipper cards. You can see boats and the ocean. The ferries arrive and depart on time. Overall, this is a nice ferry terminal. There is also a parking lot if you decide to drive here and take a round-trip ferry ride.

I'm giving 2 stars only because 1) they accepted our tickets for the other ferry company that departed much later and 2) they ran on time. Their boat, however, looks like something from a 3rd world country and the man working the gate for the 5:30pm ferry on 1/4/25 should be ashamed of himself. He damn near made me 10 year girl cry with his rude comments toward her. She's just a kid man, I get it that you're probably underpaid and hate your job but you don't need to take it out on a little girl on vacation who was just excited to go on the ferry. Despicable.

We had such a wonderful day on the ferry!

We started by taking the Jack London ferry to the SF Ferry Building. These ferries have great front windows, offering gorgeous views along the way. From there, we hopped on the ferry from SF to Sausalito. This one felt a bit older and didn’t offer the same scenic window views, but the staff were definitely easy on the eyes—so no complaints there!

The round-trip prices are reasonable, and the ferries were always on time, making the experience even better. I can’t wait for my next trip!
