We did the Seneca Bridle trail to Potomac heritage trail loop this weekend (Jan end, 2025). Sections of side channels parallel (near patowmack island) to the main Potomac were iced over. The trail runs parallel to the Potomac river , it has a moderate elevation gain with beautiful views. In some areas the trail has washed off and is dangerously inclined and sloping towards the river, a slip can result in a 60 ft slide into the icy river. Once you turn back from the river to park entrance the trail is broad and well maintained.

This is a nice short hike, approx 3.5 miles

In early spring, miles of bluebells along the river, so beautiful !Much more than Riverbend and bull run, plus much less people.

Peaceful hike to and along the Potomac. Slippery during snow season but doable with hiking boots. Parking is limited but plenty of space in the morning.

Quiet area with lots of trails. Not super well marked with blazes and got turned around and followed the wrong trail. But fantastic for the nature experience with the water and quietness.

This is definitely NOT a walk in the park.
I wish I had read the reviews before I went. Beautiful area, but VERY LITTLE SIGNAGE. Got turned around and ended up at a golf course, CLEARLY marked "No Trespassing - Private Property." 🙄 Never made it to the water, couldn't find my way. Spoke with two folks. They too were lost. Heavy sigh.
I'm great with maps, but none were available except for the large map at the entrance.
*Maps that you can take with you are needed!!!*
No signs, benches, restrooms, or picnic areas on my over 2 miles of hiking and wandering up and down hills.
Many, many hills. Many.
I did see two beautiful deer. 🦌🦌

Nice park with many trail options, sections of the canal that Washington's company built, and nice river views. Good size parking lot that's rarely full. Wild paw paw picking in the first couple weeks of September.

Seneca Regional Park is definitely worth hiking, walking, running, or biking! There are various trails and paths to explore from short hikes to long hikes. 🏞️

I highly recommend taking a hike to see Dave Lookout which is slightly NW of the park entrance near Seneca Rd.

Seneca is now one of my top trails and parks in the area and I’m looking forward to hiking here again soon!
