This was a highlight of our trip to Kauai. Frank Smith, the owner, was really entertaining and personable. The garden grounds were beautiful, including lots of peacocks and roosters, local flora. The Fern Grotto tour was great. The entertainment included dances from the various influences on the Hawaiian culture - hula dancing, fire dancing, etc. The food was delicious and plentiful. If visiting Kauai, I definitely recommend this event and family run company!

My family and I had such an amazing time at the Smith Family Garden Luau! Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, my 4 kids loved walking around taking it all in. They even had bags of bird seed for sale (huge bags!) so we could feed all the NeNe’s, chickens, ducks and peacocks!

The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. Very family friendly!

The staff was also very informative about the grounds, cooking process of the pig and much more.

It was so sweet to hear all about the family’s history and how many generations are now working the luau. My family genuinely felt welcomed and loved by this precious family and staff. We felt like family!

Thank you Smith Family for such a beautiful night! My daughter said I should give you a 7000 star review, I absolutely would if I could. We will definitely be back and will share your luau with everyone we know!

Our first visit to Kauai & Luau experience. I was excited but didn’t have high expectations, but did Smith’s deliver! The grounds are gorgeous & wonderful to explore & get some beautiful family photos. This Luau is family owned & it was cool to hear how so many in the extended family participate in the evening. It was interesting learning about how a pig roast works & watching the uncovering. The menu was extensive & there was something for everyone, including my pickiest kid (full plate of mashed potatoes & fruit). The show was nice too. We had a couple of brief rain showers but the dining area & show seating are both covered which was nice. I would definitely recommend Smith Family Luau if you are coming to Kauai & especially if you haven’t done a luau before.

Smith Family Garden Luau was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai! The grounds are absolutely stunning — lush gardens, beautiful peacocks, and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel like part of the family. The food was delicious, especially the kalua pig and local Hawaiian dishes. The show was entertaining and gave a great insight into Hawaiian culture. If you’re looking for an authentic luau experience, this is the place to go.

What a fantastic luau. The property is just so gorgeous! The event is very well run. Loved the trolley tour before dinner. Food and drink were fabulous and plentiful! A great party! The show after dinner was so educational and the dances were very professionally done. Would HIGHLY recommend this wonderful experience!!

At $140 per person, this dinner show was not worth the price. Hundreds of people were served buffet style. The food was not very good. The service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The bar drinks had very little alcohol, I actually enjoyed this...

The garden was beautiful and very enjoyable - 5 stars.

The show was equal to a good high school production. The wait staff performed the dancing, which was the same except for change of costumes. It was very repetive until the fire dancer appeared, which was entertaining.

The seating at the show was very uncomfortable. The Smiths should sit and watch their own show...

Overall- this is a BIG TOURIST TRAP. It's not worth the time and money.

Our first Luau! We couldn't visit Kauai and learn about Hawaiian culture and not experience a Luau. A little research told me that the Smith Family Garden Luau was among the best on the island. The whole Luau was run like a well oiled machine. There was a lot of food and it was delicious. Seconds were offered but I was too full from my first plate since I had a little of everything. The entertainment was outstanding and everyone was very friendly. I valued our experience very much! If you have never been to a Luau, this is the one to try!

Fun was had by all here. It begins with a tram ride around the gardens with narration about the flora and fauna. Then the imu presentation, which is when they uncover the pig that has been cooking soy day. Then ... Open bar! After you get your beverage of choice, head over to find your table. The food is served buffet style and it's all delicious. Good desserts, too!
While that is going on, there is live music and some dance demonstrations. Before long, you'll head over to the theatre setting where the show begins. This is the part I didn't love. They do a majority of the dancing on a stage across a little pond area. If you're in the first few rows, I'm sure you can see everything. We were about 3/4 of the way back and I was lucky to see half the stage. It didn't help that there was a tall guy sitting in front of me. Anyway, I felt like I was sitting in the end zone watching something happening at the 50 yard line. Seems like everyone was talented and did a good job. The service and friendliness in the dining area was perfection, though. Worth doing this one time for sure.
