Drove 30 miles on a Monday (website indicates open) to patronize this meat shop. Parked, said closed on the door. Door was open, so we walked in and proceeded to meet one of the most miserable rude ladies I ever met. She never looked up at us as she was cleaning a grocery buggy. I said Hi. Are you open, the sign says closed and her response without even looking up at me was well then we are closed.

If you can't treat your customers right, you don't need to be working in service. You lost a new monthly customer. 👈🏻

I made a call to your shop 11:25 am 12-24-24 asking if you had any sausage left and that I would like to purchase some. The lady on the phone was so rude and unprofessional and I felt like she didn’t want me to stop by she firmly said we close at 12 I said that’s fine I’m in rich creek now and then she said whatever after this I will never buy anything from here again

We order our prime rib roast from here a couple of times a year, and they are FANTASTIC! They are great to work with, and I highly recommend them. Just wish they were closer bc we live about 45 minutes away. Well worth the trip, though.

You may get your custom beef cheaper somewhere else but you wont get the quality. I sell cattle retail and the time the owner dedicates to me to ensure I get exactly what the customer wants is second to none. My customers are very pleased with the cuts,, packaging and aging.

I don't want to give 1 star.
May 2, 2023 I purchased 4 packs of hamburger and 4 packs of bulk mild sausage. I live 5 minutes away from the shop. Brought everything home and placed in our freezer. A week ago I thawed out one pack of hamburger for burgers on the grill. Meat was rotten. A few days later I thawed another one. Rotten. I have now thrown everything away that I purchased that day. No taking chances on eating rotten meat.

Smith valley has lost a customer. Never again will I buy from them.

Fantastic local business. When you want to indulge in delicious steaks, roasts, etc., call and place your order. It's usually ready that same day. You will NOT be disappointed...the taste is far superior to what you get at a grocery store. I've ordered filet mignon a few times and they are absolutely delicious! You won't be disappointed...5 stars all around!!

Does a great job. Can usually accommodate small processing orders quickly. Only drawback is that they are ~30% more expensive than other USDA processors I have used. I use them because it saves me 2 days of driving (dropoff/pickup - 20mins one way from my house) compared to cheaper places (2.5hrs one way from my house) and I like that they age the meat 21 days minimum.

Excellent!! One of the best processors around and has their aging process down to a science. We will continue shift more and more of our beefs from other processors in the area to Smith Valley moving foward.
