South Coast Research center has some interesting events that include entertainment for children, gardening and conservation events that include plant sales, composting (with & without worms) and now an annual "Run Around the Farm".
In October the fields are mainly bare and not as interesting as when crops are growing. The staff are some of the nicest people that you could want to interact with.
Give it a try for some great outdoor experiences alone or with friends and family.
