Excellent maple syrup. Ordered four 1 qt glass bottles. 2 robust and 2 amber. Box came and one was broken. Contacted Ray and he is shipping another one out immediately. Will definitely stay with them for my syrup addiction.

While traveling through Vermont, my husband and I were on a quest to find the best maple syrup available. We have always sought to support food producers that honor the land and produce in a way that is sustainable and thoughtful. We found Square Deal's website while searching for the "perfect" maple syrup. Their philosophy was impressive, and we were convinced they were a good place to seek our syrup.
We decided to "drop by" the farm and see if we could buy some syrup. We drove up to the syrup barn unannounced to find the owner, Ray Lewis, and his daughter working hard. They were so welcoming, so excited to share their philosophy on farming, explain the process, show us around, and finally give us a sample. They presented us with shot glasses of maple syrup. I was expecting maple syrup, but what I got was something I have never tasted in my life. It was exquisite! The complexity of flavor was unbelievable. They stood their watching our expression, so proud to share "real maple syrup" with a couple of seekers. We have always purchased organic maple syrup, but we got a great education on just how mixed and mingled that "organic maple" syrup is. We also leaned that the organic farms don't necessarily produce in a sustainable way. Many farms tap the trees excessively and they have a shortened life span.

Square Deal farm nurtures the trees and sees their role as that of caretakers of the land. They actively pursue the highest and best use of their land and truly seek to improve it. That care is clearly evident in the final product. Thank you for the education, the experience, and the amazing maple syrup. Hope to visit again!!
