The North Hero House Inn & Restaurant - North Hero, Vermont

We had a wonderful stay at the North Hero Inn during Thanksgiving week. It was the perfect cozy getaway for two nights in November. This was our second visit to the area but our first time at this inn, and we’d absolutely come back! We booked our stay through Airbnb because we had gift cards, but I wouldn’t recommend going that route — it’s hard to tell which room you’ll end up with. Luckily, we landed a king-sized room with a balcony and a beautiful view of Lake Champlain, but the listing didn’t specify those details beforehand.

The location couldn’t have been better. It’s right in the heart of North Hero, close to South Hero’s restaurants and breweries, and only a 35-minute drive to Burlington. Although the inn is historic, everything has been thoughtfully renovated, blending charm with modern touches. The gold animal lamps, the bathroom wallpaper, the cozy throw we used on the Adirondack chairs… every detail felt intentional.

We didn’t get to try dinner at the inn, but breakfast was included in our stay, and it was really good. You can choose between three options: eggs, toast, and bacon; French toast; or quiche. We tried the quiche and French toast, and both were phenomenal. The coffee was some of the best hotel coffee I’ve had — we looked forward to sipping it while enjoying the view of Lake Champlain. One small note: it would’ve been nice if the included breakfast allowed for more menu flexibility. Also, the restaurant and bar occupy much of the lobby area, which meant it wasn’t the most relaxing spot for guests to lounge. It wasn’t a big deal, but reading a book in the common area felt a little awkward with diners around. It felt like we were competing for space.

As for the room, the water pressure in the bathroom was amazing, and the hot water was perfect. The bed was on the firmer side, and the pillows were a bit flat for our preference. That said, the room itself was lovely, with a peaceful balcony and that unbeatable lake view.

Overall, we’d absolutely return. The North Hero Inn is a beautiful spot full of history and charm perfect to get away for a night or two.

Great views from our room in Cove House. The room was renovated, deck appeared not to be, but fantastic view. The room is spacious but no closet space if that is important to you. The bed was very comfortable. The pier bar is kind of a local hang out. The restaurant was OK but overpriced in the evening for dinner; the included breakfast was good though. Overall I would say the one night price was not good value, although recognise that was for peak fall time. Recommend the local winery 'Snow Farm Vineyard and Winery'

Tip: make sure to follow up a few times to make sure the dates are correct. |The overall experience was wonderful. I had the "Way" suite and it was big enough for a bridal party to enjoy hair and makeup. I sat in the screen in porch to watch the sunrise and set on the lake. The breakfast which was complementary was delish!! I am so inspired by the decor I am picking out the same paint for my home! Parking is first come, first serve but there is overflow parking just in case. I will be going back!

Had a wonderful time staying at the inn. We stayed in the main building, which was really quaint, very clean, and quiet. Really nice lakefront view.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating. I really liked the first floor/main lobby, there were comfy seats and tables games to just chill.

Across the street is the other building and a nice lakeside area with some Adirondack chairs and lawn games.

Our stay came with breakfast, which we greatly enjoyed.

Would highly recommend!

Bring your own duvet from October onwards. Otherwise you will have a very chilly night.||A lovely position nice food at the bar but food wasn’t hot!||Some minimal storage space essential. There was a shelf for the fridge plus some cups but nowhere to put clothes etc.|A large TV could be sacrificed for at least a shelf or two.

Everything was great, we had a fantastic one night stay for my wife's birthday.|Dinner was great, as was the complimentary breakfast next day. The location, service, room all A+. We took advantage of paddle boards and corn hole game on pier and had a very quiet and relaxing day on the porch overlooking the lake.|Very good value too, we will definitely be back. This is my wifes new favorite place.

We enjoyed a couple days here. We were surprised to find they had bikes to borrow. We rode to st Anne’s shrine on the Lake. A beautiful day. The food was delicious. The ambience and staff were top notch. Friendly and helpful.

My wife and I came by for an overnight trip on the way to NY to adopt our puppy back in April. Our stay was amazing and we can’t wait to return! The food and room was perfect! We had a larger room in the actual house on the second floor and it was amazing. The living room was attached with a hall and had a cozy fireplace with views of the lake with a porch. The staff were so friendly and welcoming! Both my wife and I were amazed at the quality of food (we went on a night for wings!) and loved the flavors and cook of the food. Dessert was equally as delicious. Not to mention the great selections of beer and cocktails! We can’t wait to return later this summer and enjoy the bar/restaurant across the street.
